Description

As October draws to a close and the magic of Halloween gently peels off your shoulders to float back into the woods from
whence it came, you sense a question that you can't quite formulate sitting on the tip of your tongue.

It has to do with the feeling of Halloween, you think.
How when September turns October first, there is a sort of bubbling collective excitement that pops like
champagne out of a bottle that can't contain it.. It's a bit of a spectacle.

Sure, nobody can say no to a good dancing skeleton gif. It's pretty exciting to change
your icon or screen name into something mildly spooky - isn't it so festive?
And by God if you aren't determined to make it last all month.

The magic of it is inebriating.
It may be an exaggeration, but you can't deny that there has been at least a small buzz
under your skin that has managed to last you throghout the last thirtyone days.
That is when the question on the tip of your tongue steps out of the fog.
Magic. It's magic.. Who is responsible for it?

As if calling out to the question there is an almost immediate shuffle behind you.
Your head snaps around in surprise. Who do you see?

HELLO wow lol. these were supposed to be posted on the 30-31st but life decided
to happen and happen pretty hard during the tail end of october! sorry about that!
thankfully these guys' themes still fit and i REALLY hope you like them.

as with all my one-offs, the backstories, their abilities, any sort of flavor text that
i add in the description is one hundred percent optional. want to use any of these or dnd?
or something else? go nuts.

Before you see the witch, you're greeted by a minor flock of bobbling
mushroom hats scurrying to crowd around your shoes.
"Oh, don't mind them. They're just excited to see you."
The witch says, as if it makes this situation feel any less strange.
Coming closer they smile at you and their plump cheeks are reminiscent of apples.

"I'm the mush witch. I've been responsible for making sure that nature
gets that extra help with producing mushrooms, pumpkins, squashes, sweet potatoes-"
You don't know how long the list of natural foods is..
But you suspect that you have this little witch to
thank for the festive meals you've seen around this October.

The shuffling noise you heard was immediately followed by a dry crunch...
Then another, and then another. Leaves suddenly twirl at you in brightly
colored flashes. A green hat follows after them, sitting on the head of
what looks to be a red-headed witch who bows out of the shadows and into view.
Their heels scuff to a stop in a small pile of leaves, which you deduct is
guilty of those crunching noises you just heard.

"I'm the leaf witch. I'm sure you've noticed by now, but the month of
October sports a beautiful range of colorful trees, does it not?"
You nod hesitantly, still digesting the fact a witch is in front of you.
"Well, that is my doing. It's my magic that ensures nature puts
on her autumn robes, and boasts with all her colors as proudly as she can."
The witch looks very satisfied with themselves. Chest puffed and all.

Animal Magic

Animal Magic decided to tag along with katelakins !

Before you hear any sounds a pair of glowing yellow eyes grab your attention.
They're frozen in the dark like two marbles, bright like warning signals while
watching your every move. You wonder if you should fear for your life
until a small fox-like animal jolts towards you, leaving behind a
cartoonishly surprised pair of yellow orbs.

Hesitantly, a witch steps out. Their head is lowered in a shy posture.
Suddenly that sharp gaze seems a lot less intimidating - this person is
perfectly human shaped! Phew. Here you were expecting something else.

"Sorry... about that." The witch says, calling the fox over.
"I'm, uh, the animal witch. I make sure that animals remember to change
into their winter coats so that they don't freeze when the month is over...
I also communicate with animals who have passed on.
Their spirits tend to, well... roam quite a bit this month."

You get the feeling they aren't used to communicating with humans.

Cozy Magic decided to tag along with floramisa !

"Cozy witch! Nice to meet you. ~" A wonderfully warm voice reaches out
to you from the dark before a face is even presented to pair it with.
You don't wait for long, however. A wide and welcoming smile emerges; bright
white and reaching all the way up to a pair of absolutely dazzling lavender eyes.
When you look at them you feel calm and relaxed.
Also.. is that the scent of cinnamon you're picking up?

"I like to help people relax when things get cold! Warm drinks, layers upon
layers upon more layers, cinnamon buns and knit scarves. Everything that is comforting
and warms either your skin or the pit of your belly-"

They click their teeth and point a gloved thumb self-ways to credit themselves.
After that they laugh. The sound almost makes you believe you've been friends forever..
