So I asked Thomas what the little buttons on the front of Darth Vader's suit do...managed to ask him a Star Wars question he didn't know. Becky and I always assumed they had something to do with his respirator or some such. You do have to wonder how he eats, sleeps, and...well, what happens when he farts...that suit's probably airtight for life support, gotta get rid of excess air pressure somehow right?...come on, Star Wars and a fart joke, you gotta love it, right?
...well, it made me giggle when I drew it, heh...

Shouldn't the Stormtrooper's helmet have a breather/respirator included? They can't just send troops into unknown athmospheres without some safety.

Actually I can imagine stormtroopers on board the Death Star - like this guy - having fairly basic breathing vents and a radio for contact, but not necessarily complex breathing filters -- after all, our own military doesn't walk around all the time with their gas masks on.

But, like you said, they ARE the Empire, their armors must be unnecessarily light, complicated and useless. Maybe they spent the protection budget on breathers
