redraw of THIS from early 2021!

this was done in heavypaint.. i wont lie, i like the old one better in some aspects. i also like the new one better in some aspects though, and it wasnt meant to be super serious, so such is life..

i think the old one had a bit better posing and proportions actually - like, the pose felt more natural and the body more realistic somehow.. plus, the new one is a lot more anime, which obviously i dont have a problem with drawing like that by any means, but it definitely does totally change the vibe.. the change of the pose and the expression too change the vibe - the old one i think felt more 'staring blankly as in mysterious or ethereal', and the new one somehow feels a lot more like 'staring blankly as in genuinely contemplative or just zoned out'... i think maybe cause this pose is similar to my thinking pose, and the old one is a more relaxed pose.. maybe also due to eye placement? old one is staring right at you, this one stares more past you.. i dont know, but in fairness, i am significantly happier with the texture and shading on this one.. the old one, man, the shading on the body is a huge mess that hurts to look at.. i can tell i had no idea what to do and thought nobody would notice.... i did do my best but it just looks quite random! plus i am not so happy with that lineart either.. and even though i have no idea how to shade hair now, it looks like i had even less of an idea then.. i think the posing and anatomy in this one is gonna be another one of those "i have no idea what im doing but i think people dont notice and then regret it later" type things like the shading on the old one was but well i was too late in when i noticed and didnt wanna redraw the whole thing. whatever the forearms hands and legs look good to me thats what im going to pretend i care about hehehe

OK wall of text over.. sorry i am not trying to get down on myself like genuinely but wanted to point out the differences i saw cause its interesting i think. also i got NO clue if bounce light works like that but i had fun putting little orange lines and gradients everywhere so what eeever
