I did a similar piece to this about a year ago and wasn’t happy with it, probably because I wasn’t particularly proud of the wings and felt like they didn’t quite illustrate the emotion I was trying to capture. I was trying to capture the evolution of sexuality, but the wings in the previous piece were the wings of a polyphemus moth, which had very dull colours. I changed them to luna moth wings instead because I still wanted to use a symbol of evolution, but I wanted the wings to be bigger and brighter to express the evolution that love and sexuality brings.
