Description
A few words on why I believe Sasuke deserves redemption and a chance."On one hand Sasuke cares about Itachi's wishes but on the other, found it sick and unfair. "Oh yeah let me go and protect the village that decided to slaughter an entire clan simply because they had rebellious ideals, which stemmed from the fact that they were being discriminated against due to Madara messing everything up". Making Itachi kill his entire clan, bringing him to emotional stress. Then had his little brother kill his big brother under false pretences, after having lived his whole life mind screwed by this whole matter. If not anything else Sasuke deserves an apology from Konoha. I'm glad Naruto said "I understand why you're doing all this" because it's true. They SHOULD understand.
The real criminals here are the Konoha council because they exterminated an entire clan when it could have been handled in a more humane manner. It's their selfishness and cowardice that created Sasuke to what he is today.
Of course the one responsible from the get go is Madara who told Sasuke the truth, summoned the 9 tails to destroy the village which made the village become discriminant with the Uchiha in the first place.
Sasuke's final battle with Naruto would be like a repeat of history but altered. Madara and Hashirama fought against each other but they were always enemies. Naruto and Sasuke have a history of being best friends/brothers. Moreover throughout the series the motif of new generation surpassing the old had been indicated countless times. When they fight, there should be a totally different outcome. What happened with Madara won't happen with Sasuke. When Naruto fights Sasuke, something good is going to happen. Sasuke and Naruto is going to bring the Senju and the Uchiha back together and not just save Konoha, but save Sasuke and the Uchiha. Killing Sasuke would be like killing half of the Sage of the six paths, he wants both brothers to live in harmony. That, is true peace that Naruto was entrusted to accomplish .
Edit: Just to clear things out, the truth about the Uchiha massacre, segregation (and maybe other Root's dirty moves) shall be revealed sooner or later. If Sasuke is no longer a threat , then I don't see any problem for the villagers to sympathize with him.
You can't but admit things wouldn't be this awful had the Konoha council tried to reach deal with Uchiha. What about freeing them of segregation, give them a position in Konoha policy (with should have been theirs naturally since they're one of village founders). But no, they instead chose to manipulate a patriotic Uchiha member into annihilating hundreds of people, not showing mercy even to children and helpless women. What threat would have the 2 old crackers sellers been to Konoha?! How would you feel if someone ordered a hit on your people, then have the audacity to perform the practically sacrilegious act of violating their bodies and taking their powers for himself? And when he appeared in front of Sasuke, all he has to say is "I'm taking your eyes!". From the point of view of Sasuke, an avenger with the utmost love for his clan, that is one hell of a slap in the face.
The Uchiha did not want a war, but a change in Konoha's abysmal policy system. Only the higher up would have been affected. The possibility of a war happening was bound to exist thanks to that rotten regime, since Konoha exterminating the Uchiha is like cutting off its own wing. Weren't the best? Let's face it, Danzo's decision wasn't to protect the village at all, but to ensure his position and satisfy his hurt ego from being rejected off the Hokage post. And even if it was, do you think it's RIGHT to KILL a certain group of people because they were POSSIBLY a threat to the others? What about killing all HIV infected? Millions of lives would be saved... What is more the same people you kill are those who's been fighting to protect you and your safety, freaking co-founders of your village...
Concerning Itachi's doing, the situations are kinda different Itachi was awesome, don't get me wrong. His fail lies in the way he set Sasuke on the road to power. Itachi, although he was trying to "help" Sasuke, screwed his mind up in more ways than we can imagine. He pushed Sasuke into going down the path of hatred, and reinforced it when they met again on the Tsunade retrieval arc. Sasuke going the way he's going is not really a surprise- as cliche as it sounds, becasue of Itachi's actions, he "killed" his heart and now doesn't know how to do anything but hate. Itachi's a patriot, not a hero. Is it the best we can do, buying one side's safety with the other side's eradication?
I never said anything about Konoha nins should "welcome him as an old friend when he starts attacking there village". You might have misinterpreted my previous post... All I was trying to say is that once Sasuke's redeemed, acceptance should be what awaits him.
True peace lies in understanding and forgiving each other. Only caring about your own well-being, wanting someone dead without trying to understand his position is what makes the ninja world a rotten place. And THAT, is exactly what Naruto's going to change, following Jiraiya's legacy and bring true peace to the world."
The drawing itself is my early tribute to Sasuke's upcoming birthday (23rd July). That broken butterfly represents a fragile human soul, tattered by rain. Interpretation is up to you though..
I tried to experiment with a new style, but sadly seems it was a fail OTL

My first impression of the picture itself, was literally "JESUS! <3"
It's a beautiful picture. And your explanation is also well-thought out. I'm a gloomier person, so I really would love it if Naruto would just die, or both Sasuke and Naruto. I like chaotic endings. Naruto himself dying totally won't happen, and I love Sasuke, but somehow, I like it when my favorites die. XD Still, what you said about Sasuke being killed would be like killing half of the Sage of the Six Paths is an excellent point. And the whole thing about the new generation surpassing the last, too.
Wonderful~ <3

The art is amazing! And don't kid yourself! They style is beautiful!
I also agree with you! Naruto is going to make it right and the village's should only fight Sasuke if Sasuke's still looking for a fight. His reason's are understandable and they owe him a chance to be at peace with himself.
On a similar note: they really have no real reason for coming after Sasuke if he did become redeemed. The only real villager death he's actually caused was Danzo's. (And you don't have to be smart to see that Danzo had it coming. He would've been branded a criminal and a traitor for using jutsu to get power. Some of the other Kage would never have trusted him again anyway.) So I see a lot of hope for him!
But we must keep our fingers crossed for Naruto as well! He's got a lot of work ahead of him!

Very interesting ^^ I'd like to make my comment:
I can understand very well the reasons of Sasuke, it's humanly understandable, but in this revenge he's doing the same crime committed by the council of Konoha: involving and killing innocents without finding a middle way. He's doing wrong, he's touching the bottom - surely he'll mend his ways, but the fact remains that he's doing evil, for now, until proven otherwise.
>You can't but admit things wouldn't be this awful had the Konoha council tried to reach deal with Uchiha
They did, the Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen tried to do it with the support of Itachi (it can be seen in the anime series). Too many forget that at the top of Konoha there weren't only counselors and Danzo.
>He pushed Sasuke into going down the path of hatred
I think Itachi absolutely had to reinforce the bond between himself and Sasuke because in any case, even if Itachi itself would was dead at 13, Orochimaru and others had the intention to take over the Sharingan. Sasuke was able to defeat Orochimaru's possession because he had a purpose in life, a strong will that never left him: the killing of his older brother. Itachi knew well to be hated from his little brother since their childhood (chapter 221), then this was the only bond to reinforce, sadly.
>Itachi's a patriot, not a hero. Is it the best we can do, buying one side's safety with the other side's eradication?
I don't agree with this definition, also because I'm convinced he hasn't taken such a choice, according to a deductive reasoning. But- even so, it's not for love of the country but for love of the peace he would have done ("si vis pacem, para bellum"), because a truce was proposed to the clan from Sarutobi, but according to Madara's version they have rejected it (we'll see later if this is true). By rejecting the truce, the Uchihas were well aware and then therefore responsible for causing a total war where a lot of defenceless people would have died, including women and children. The basic motivation was surely good, I think, but the price to be paid was too high: political disorder > attack by minor neighboring states > total war> thousands of deaths. It's obvious that the Uchiha clan had evaluated the matter the same as by the top of Konoha, and at the end other people's lives counted less than their revenge, compensation (even if the claim was for a just-right)
Anyway, I trust and esteem in Kishimoto, I'm sure Sasuke's redemption (which will of course) will be convincing, according to his usual style
the painting is awesome, and it express your feeling of tenderness for this character ^_^
Sorry for the lenght of this comment, and for my poor english

Kiviiiiiiiiiiiiiiii T_T
This is beautiful The soft muted colours, Sasuke's face, the wind blowing in his face, the shading, the thoughts and meaning behind it....Argh Kivi argh! This is absolutely gorgeous (in artistic sense) yet so heart-wrenching at the same time
I agree with what you've written in the artists' comment, especially this one:
His fail lies in the way he set Sasuke on the road to power. Itachi, although he was trying to "help" Sasuke, screwed his mind up in more ways than we can imagine. He pushed Sasuke into going down the path of hatred, and reinforced it when they met again on the Tsunade retrieval arc.
This is one of the things that stood out to me the most regarding Itachi's actions...Itachi might have wanted Sasuke to go on the path of straight-ness (or more precisely, political-correctness) but he did not realise that Sasuke's 'learnt' personality (the personality and characteristics he gained as a result of his clan massacre and subsequent suffering) will mean that Sasuke will almost never go down the path Itachi wanted him to. But Itachi may have expected this...
Mr.Childrennnnnn T_T I love Hanabi <3 Have you seen it live (their 2009 live one)?

so sorry for the late reply >_<''' Thanks for the compliments, Wyn, I'm sooo much flattered, I don't deserve them..
It's strange how some people tell me they can recognize my drawings just by looking at it. I don't have any pre-determined colouring methode, and can never reproduce the style even if I wanted to (except for cell shading)
Lately I've been ranting about Itachi too much, lol. Anyway I'm hoping Sasuke becomes a better man, simply because I don't want to see him die. If Naruto wins then Sasuke becomes a testament to the ninja world that no matter how "low" you fall you can still be redeemed.

everything you said here is absolutely true! sasuke's confused and broken inside. he thinks that everyone's against him now that he lost his family and people are pushing him in different directions. he's only 16 and so much is going on for him. he tries to cover up his depression with anger and hatred. plus he suspects that everyone is against him. and honestly, sasuke and naruto's final battle should end the way you stated. awesome picture by the way. one of your best!

Stellar picture, but I can't say I agree on the argument. From what I've seen in the anime and manga, Sasuke has no intentions of redeeming himself. \:
