Description

Some people out there may hate me for this, but I felt so nostalgic that I had to do it.

Basic Story

Basically, I found myself kinda interested in the world of NiGHTS as a kid and it led me to making an AU where I may have changed up some of the rules a bit. For one thing, the dream world is split up into a Day Universe and a Night Universe. Nightopians and Nightmarens live in the Night Universe with Wizeman. Meanwhile, the Daytopians and Daymarens reside in the Day Universe with his sister deity Zophia. Whichever one a visitor enters all depends on whether they fall asleep during the day or the night.

At one point, the two worlds could freely interact with each other, the nightmares and daymares working together every now and then on certain tasks. However, that changed one day when Wizeman had executed Zophia's best 1st level Daymaren. A barrier has been put in place since then, keeping the two worlds from interacting ever again.

Many MANY years later, a small rift had formed in the barrier, allowing for a few Daymarens to break through into Nightopia. One of them was named SUNNi, who quickly became close with NiGHTS. (I know NiGHTS technically has no gender, but I didn't know that when I first thought this up. So for this AU, NiGHTS will be a boy due to story reasons. Please bear with me.) And while the rest of SUNNi's friends returned home, she stayed and even had a child with the purple Nightmaren. A daughter named DUSK, the first and only daymare/nightmare hybrid to exist.

Sixteen years later after her birth, DUSK now roams the realms of Nightopia alone and not belonging anywhere, her parents long dead at the hands of Wizeman. She finds herself not alone for much longer though. Reala has been sent after her to take her to his master. Why is anyone's guess. Unbeknownst to them however, Zophia has sent some of her own to retrieve the girl as well. And as the unlikely duo travel across the Night Dimension, many challenges will come their way. Trust will be formed, loyalties will be tested, and memories of a past long buried will finally rise to the surface.
