First up, what a great location! It looks like you could really experiment and be creative with compositions and textures. It is also hard with many talented and seasoned photographers out there to find and shoot original locations and compositions, so good job!
The colors are realistic and the image is well exposed. The only detail lost is in the trees in between the sky and foreground rock formations.
In terms of composition I have to agree with the critique by Tychoaussie and say that landscape would have been the way to go for this image. The leading lines of the rocks wouldn't be lost and you would get more of that beautiful sky.
The image is also a bit soft and I think having a crisp, sharp image would really bring out the texture of the rocks, not to mention improve the overall impact and quality of the image.
Never the less, this is a good photo taken at just the right time in a beautiful location. Good work! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

The geologist in me wants to hunt down the mystery of how this landscape was created. Is it a big stratified layer of dolomite, tipped on end through the process of crustal folding, or perhaps are those fissures the result of compressive stress from some incoming tectonic plate long ago, like when the Appalachian mountains were created?
The rose colors within the evening sky compliment the rock structure and the soft light brings out the shadows and texture so well. Though I sort of wish to have seen a landscape shaped version of this print in 3000 pixel wide glory rather than portrait. I'd love to see what is beyond the edges of this scene. However I understand the emphasis with the fissures and how they draw your eyes upward through the center of the photograph.
Well done, I hope I get the good fortune of finding landscapes like this someday.

Love the way the foreground and the background blend together with the contrast center right. Looks great.

This is kind of eerie, unlike any other place I've seen. The perspective is great, and the sunset-tinted clouds in the background are beautiful.
