I believe that Nzuri was a bit bitter with his mother after the events of Nzuri's Pride Part 1. Feeling left alone after his sister's passing, brother leaving and parents grieving, being made a king at a such a young age... I feel like when he became a father he became a bit more understanding towards his mother and fixed the relationship between the two. Nzuri was very young when he died, only 36-37 in human years :c
