Description
The split between human and fish in the traditional merperson design has always felt way too abrupt to me, so I decided to design a creature that felt more like a unique species in its own right.Related content

Gorgeous painting, as usual. I love the lighting here. Pectorals seem a little off, they look kinda like breasts? XD

Yeah i do agree with this as well. Beautiful job with the colors and painting but i definitely thought the pecs were off a bit. I saw the thumbnail and had thought differently until i realized it was titled "MerMAN" XD

I like the concept, but if he lives in the water wouldn't he need some sort of tail fins?

Thanks, originally I was going to give him fins, but while I was researching sea creatures I found that several, such as sea lions, propel themselves forward using their front limbs and decided to go that route for this merman design. The lack of fins would mean that his tail would become more of a third limb than a tail, allowing him to anchor himself to things like a seahorse would. Mostly though, I liked how a finless design looked and tried to design a creature this would make sense for.

Hm, now that you mention it that does make anatomical sense.

The highlights really bring it to life. I like it! I feel like you could have made it seem... sharper, though, or more detailed, especially around the face.
