I have three of the base gun you've used, they're wonderful to use as the core of bazooka style weaponry. A trick that may help you add character, take a cotton bud and dip it in a darker coloured brass or metal paint, and lightly go around all the inner corners and gaps, using the other side to wipe some of it away. Adds a little age to it, but it takes practice to get it looking quite right.
