side-by-side, back-to-back, face-to-face, hand-in-hand, barefoot & lying back-bare on dark green earth/2 opposing heartbeats in rhythm with the wind providing a pace for the dancing writhing waves of green blades of grass, pawing & clawing at the side of your skin until you giggle foolishly & I look to you/skeptically, but all I see is your smile outlined in the darkness & a glitter where your eyes should be/you’re the most beautiful person I can't see/where would I be if we weren't here?/your pale-lit eyes tear away from mine & turn to the pale reflections of your light in the night sky, & my left squeezes your right squeezes my left right back as we continue to lie back and be isolated together/I shut my eyes & you are the only thing anywhere, I can still feel your presence without my senses, just an insistent solid reassurance that you exist persists/I'm so close to you despite the usual distance I keep/from anyone & everyone except a rare few/which seems to include you, though I don't understand why/you're irresistible/who's to say? why fret over particulars anyway? & so, I'll just be happy to have daylight break & know/that unlike everything else, you'll still be …
