I think it's worth a little description of what's going on here: The conversation right after the rescue. Cora lost her son. He just disappeared.

Since he is very interested in one-eyed creatures, when she heard the roar of such a creature, she headed in that direction, for her son is brave and curious. He's also stupid at times ahah
One-eyed creatures appear occasionally, the main thing is that they are exterminated by special lioters (scumbags, most of them).
Of course things didn't go according to plan, Cora was knocked out by a tentacle strike, but Harpoon's team was there to pull her out. Since they didn't kill the creature, it had moved on, so they had to catch up with it (But Harpoon didn't want to leave until Cora woke up :³)
