After the Jotan crisis that turned the homeland of Titon into the deserts of the present day, many Terrans began to see any alterations of their biology as a taboo science, fearing that any tampering would lead to the horrible mutation of the Jotan.
Others did not.

Among these few were the predators. In their eyes, the Jotans were divine. Flawed in their earlier creation perhaps, but still divine. The promise of ascension.
So they began their experiments to solve the Jotan question. The question of How to turn into a Jotan without loosing themselves to bloodlust.
The results of this work was the MK 5 Ascendent cure, a new version of that age old formula that created the Jotan. The MK 5, when applied into the limbs of a subject, would become a powerful behemoth for a limited time, able to tear through normal Terrans with surprising ease.
When the Terran imperium learned of their blasphemies, they sent their armies to crush them.

The first Jotan war was terrible to behold. Millions of imperials would be butchered by the predators as they began to mass produce Jotans to serve as living weapons against the imperium.

But the imperium was too vast for the predators to fight in a war of attrition, and they began to be crushed under its weight.
As the outcome of the war became more inevitable, the Berserkers made their move.
Launching a invasion of the predator’s homeworld of Barda Yoha, the berserkers pillaged the Predators achievements for themselves.
In a desperate act of vengeance, the exulted archbaron of the predators condemned this homeworld, and turned its population into Jotans.
Those berserkers not in orbit were massacred, and the last of the predators were cursed to be immortal on their ruined homeworld.
