Quint is an older salmonling, having grown up near Canadian waters doing mostly manual labor instead of invading broken down oil rigs. In his time, he's had a rough run in with a grizzly, the beast taking his hand before he brought it down. Now he uses a hook hand that he changes out sometimes.

How Quint and the ever enigmatic Dr. Femt came to work together is a mystery. Most responses about it are just "he offered a job" and a shrug. He does work around the mad doctor's facility, keeping any creations in line, watching over salmonids like a father, or just general labor. Sometimes, the mad doctor offers to make him a new hand to general nonchalance.

He has a casually intimate relationship with Ayla, the feral octoling, the hybrid being attracted to his... strength, so to speak. A couple passionate nights later resulted in Wander being conceived. However, he treats him like his many adopted salmonids, usually having to tell him not to bite.
