We make surrender uglier than it really is, when others are not even looking at it that way and are looking forward, we get ourselves stuck in the quagmire of suffering and inaction, needlessly wasting time and opportunity. We are our own worst enemy.

Great piece. The analogy with relationships is strong, and the beaten side comes out with the wite flag. The blindness of the flag carrier is symbolic and goes well with the closed eyes. And the transfere of energy is very well described because the flag carrier takes that little what is left and carries it to a new place to live as a refuge. Any way, that is what I see here.
