It had been a hard day in training and all you wanted was to rest. The sky was setting and getting dark, the camp was shaded a dark purple. I looked up at the beautiful sky and saw the purple and orange hints in the yellowing sky. I cracked a smile as I made my way to the sleeping quarters. I Opened the creaky door to the dinner hall and walked down the tiny cramped hallway to your room. My roommate was dead asleep so I made myself comfortable and fell asleep.

I woke up to a loud crack of thunder, quite honestly I were scared of thunderstorms like no other. I hit my head against the side of my bed on a wooden beam, I rubbed your head to ease the pain. I curled up to a corner of the room and waited for it to stop. It was early in the morning and no one was up yet. I tried to think about happier things... My mind was blank for a bit, then something popped in my head. Something that stained my face a bright pink and left me smiling like a kid getting the present that they always wanted for Christmas. Gosh I obviously liked the thought, the storm was for once tuned out. If someone walked in I wouldn't even notice. The thought kept floating in your head and a mental picture popped up in your head. My face had turned from a light candy pink to a carmine red.

    'Armin'

Ah yes, that name could turn the worst day around to the best day ever. He was so smart and caring. His eyes had an odd calming effect on me, they remind me of the world beyond the walls. It's always been a dream of mine to go to the ocean and just a glimpse of his eyes took me there. He always did everything for others, he has such a sweet heart. He always keeps his head up and smiles even in the worst times. Even though he's not the most physically gifted he always knew what to say. He wasn't a warrior for his physical abilities or physique, but by his mental capabilities and his mind puzzling strategies. He always tried his hardest to make sure everyone was safe.

    *flash back*
I ran out of gas when I was fighting a titan and I had started falling towards the ground. I couldn't do anything but scream as I stared at the patchy green field that looked like my final resting spot beneath me. My arm skidded against the ground, at this point I knew this fall wasn't going to be soft. I could only think about the titans that would inevitably be my last sight of anything. I hit the ground and I could feel the pain and blood seeping from every part that hit the ground. I stumbled on the ground and my vision had gotten blurry. I tried my hardest to pry my eyes open, I saw a fuzzy figure that had forgotten about safe landing while using the 3Dmg. They rolled on the grass and scrambled up off the ground with their grass stained and dirt covered white pants to get me. They had blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. I vividly remembered the place I had always wanted to visit, if this was going to be my last thought I was lucky to have a happy thought. They managed to pick me up and the figure and I were swiftly making our way to somewhere, but when we were moving we both flailed around to regain balance. I noticed that they were trying their hardest to get me to the infirmary safely. Before I became unconscious I noticed the figure had tears streaming down their eyes and they said something before I closed my eyes and blacked out.

I woke up and jolted my upper body forward, only wincing in pain as I frantically looked around to find my whereabouts. I sighed in relief knowing that I was in the safety of the infirmary, I looked down and to my sides to examine the damage I had encountered. My right arm was bandaged up and I didn't dare move it because I knew it was broken since I landed on that arm first and it took the most damage. My legs had bandages all over and gory scars that covered my legs. there were bruises of all sorts of colors scattered across my legs that trailed up my sides and to my arms and face. I rubbed my aching jaw to soothe the burning pain on my face. I felt something brush up against my leg and I looked down to see sprawled out blonde hair that belonged to a sleeping figure. It took me a bit to figure out that it was Armin. I tried to get comfortable without waking the adorable Armin, but that plan didn't work out too well. While I tried to get in a better position I had managed to move my leg that had a bulky cast and I kicked Armin's forehead. I saw him wake up abruptly and look around then grunt.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." I bashfully said while turning around to hide the blush that crept up on me when I saw Armin half asleep with those glossy ice blue eyes.

"It's fine ____, I kinda deserve it. I mean I didn't come fast enough to save you. I'm not the best with the 3Dmg, I'm really slow. I'm sorry ____..." Armin said while examining your wounds.

"Don't apologize, I wasn't thinking. I kept going even though I had no gas left. You saved me, I'd be dead by now if you hadn't come." I said while turning around to flash him a quick smile, but before I could see his response I whipped back around to explore my cast.

"____, it was a mistake we all make mistakes." Armin said while gently placing his hand on your bandaged arm.

"I'm just a burden... It would have been better if I was left there, I didn't deserve to be saved..." I said choking on my own words trying to hold back tears, "You're so good at all this stuff while I'm lost half the time, you always know what to do. You shouldn't have to take care of me, this is all my fault." I said trying my hardest to keep it together.

"_____, you aren't a burden. You mean to be left behind. Everyone would be heartbroken if you left us. It hurts me to hear you say this stuff about you. If you ever need to talk you can talk to me. Okay?" Armin said now lacing his fingers in yours.

"Okay." I said as I turned around and smiled with tears running down my face and red eyes. I wasn't sad anymore I was grateful. I was out of commission for 5 weeks and still had to have bandages and casts for longer than that. I got to skip out of training, but in return I had to clean all the time. It was hard enough to dodge people in the hallways and try not to hit them, but now I'm just stressed out and tired. Levi would always somehow come out of nowhere to check on my cleaning job to make sure it was 130% clean. Levi would just put me down for how terrible of a soldier I am and say that I couldn't do anything good at all and he pointed to my legs to prove a point. All I would do is sigh and get back to cleaning, but honestly all I wanted to do was poke and prod into his cold emotionless and see whats actually behind there... Maybe he actually cares...

"C-Corporal..." I nervously said as I firmly grasped the bandanna that I had taken off my mouth earlier.

"Oi, what do you need twat..." He said harshly as he examined my cleaning job.

"Uhm, how do y-you know if someone c-cares about you?" I stuttered out with uneven breathes. I didn't dare look up and I just clutched the bandanna harder and focused my vision on my feet. I could see his face behind my back. I knew that he had raised an eyebrow also a puzzled look on his face showing a crack of emotion. I could tell that this was sensitive topic since Petra's death.

"Cadet what does this have to do about cleaning?" He said snapping back into his emotionless senses.

"I-I don't really know, I was just curious... I-It was a stupid question anyways..." I timidly said as my breath harshly stuttered. He looked at me again, but this time with a stare. I couldn't read any emotion.

"You do deserve to know Cadet... After all you have encountered it before. You just haven't realized it... I'd tell you, but that would ruin the fun and it wouldn't mean anything to you if I did tell you." He said as he picked up the cleaning supplies and started walking out the door of the library. I was left in awe at what he said. 'what does he mean?'

"Wait!" I said softly as I ran up to the short statured man.

"Oi, Cadet please make it fast I have other things that I need to tend to." He said as he turned his head to his side to look at me and give me the same death stare as always.

"H-How do you even know?! Who told you?" I whimpered, just begging him to tell me.

"No one told me, I'm a good observer. And if I told you it would ruin the purpose, I'm not one for silly games but it would be the best for the future. Now don't bug me anymore about this, or I will ruin all of the fun. If you do need help or have questions come to my office and I might be of assistance." He said acting as a big brother. I was in shock at what he said. I was going to salute to corporal, but I took a wrong step forward and tripped over the cleaning supplies spilling all of the detergents over the wooden floors.

"Tch, Cadet _____ Clean this mess up before you mess anything else up..." He said harshly.

"Is it still a mess if you spill cleaning supplies?" I said as a failed attempt to lighten the mood.

"Tch, that's it Cadet ____. Ypu are now officially in commission your training starts tomorrow and no breaks for you. You will be skipping breakfast and lunch and doing double the studying. You will be doing this until I say so." He said slapping the side of my face with a bandage on it and left a bruise as he shot daggers into my eyes , "Oh and scratch out coming to my office for advice... I don't think I can help a delinquent like you." He said as he slammed the door and left. 'that was a bit harsh for joke...'

After a long day of cleaning and skipping breakfast and lunch like I was commanded to by Corporal Levi I was finally allowed to go to the dinner hall to eat dinner. My stomach has been growling like a wild bear that just got out of hibernation. I swear that Sasha and I were competing for all the food that day. I begged anyone for extra soup or bread. I managed to scrounge up a few pieces of bread and some soup. I gorged myself and laid my head on the filthy wooden tables that had food residue and left a sticky film on whatever thing made contact with the table. I closed my eyes and drifted off before I was rudely interrupted by yours truly Corporal.

"Get up before I make you scrub this place from floor to ceiling with a toothbrush you twat. Now get up and go to bed cadet _____." He grasped my sore arm and pulled me out of my chair forcefully as he left giving me a clear message to go. I sighed and sat on the grubby floor and stared at the ceiling. 'This is so confusing, why am I messing everything up. I don't get it, no one even cares about me...' I stared between two wooden beams at the ceiling staring off into space. I was exhausted and hadn't noticed anything. I thought I had heard Corporal coming back to check on me so I jumped off the ground and pretended to clean up a mess with a fearful and timid look on my face.

"_-____. Are you okay? You look really pale, are you sick?" A strangely familiar voice said.

"Y-Yeah, I'm alright..." I sheepishly stammered. I looked over to see the sweet calming ocean blue orbs that made me smile a bit.

"I'm really sorry for this whole mess ____. Please let me make it up to you." He said bashfully looking down at his jacket fiddling with something in his pocket.

"A-Armin you didn't do anything wrong." I chimed with a bit of a stutter in my voice. 'gosh _____ your stupid social anxiety is messing it all up. He's the one guy you care about and your botching it up in front of him. You know he obviously doesn't care about you. He never does this stuff, only to smart and pretty girls. Definitely not you.'

"Please ______, I insist." He said as he grabbed a neatly folded piece of paper that had, had a few wrinkles from being in his pocket.

"Read it when ever you feel lonely _____, it must be hard being you right now with Corporal watching you all the time. If you ever need to talk you can always... N-Never mind... You probably don't want to talk to someone like me..." He bashfully said while looking into, my ______ colored eyes and blushing a darker shade of pink.

"Armin, I l-lo- like talking to you its r-really nice, because you understand." I said blushing brighter, I covered my cheeks with my hands to distract from the blush.

"Thanks _____, you know _____, you're different from the others I don't know what it is, but it's really nice... You must be tired _____, Let me walk you to your room." He said standing up and offering a hand. I took his hand and pulled him down making him grunt from surprise.

"I-I-I don't want you to go... Look there's fireflies!" I said with a glowing smile pointing at the soft gleaming speckles of gold in the air. He smiled and we talked all night long attempting to be quiet to not disturb the corporal and awake the other cadets. I yawned as I subconsciously laid my head on his shoulder. He flinched in surprise, but eased into it. I had started to drift off dreaming about fireflies that matched his blonde locks and his ocean blue eyes that were just meant to mix together. I felt something wrap around my waist as I blushed and fell asleep in his arms. My mind felt at ease at what happened today, 'maybe I don't always mess things up.'
