Description
Gah, okay so, I'm not happy with this outcome of this one...drew it about 10 days ago and figured I cant let it sit around forever. In the beginning stages of drawing this I was thinking, hey this is gonna be fun, because I haven't drawn a koopaling in about 3...4...5 years? So I was thrilled to do another Super Mario fanart piece for old times sake.
Buuuut looking at it (and it couuuld be just me, cause' you know I have a habit of being hard on myself sometimes) I just feel its not super exciting and I probably could have done better. Β I pretty much had an off day I guess...come to think of it- the day after I drew it I started getting a cold. But hey, we all kinda have one of those days, yeah?
But anyway, enough negativity! Sorry. So....here's an upload for you guys since I postponed one for last week and so I can only hope you'll enjoy it, regardless. :^)
I think I should do another SMB scene in the future to make up for, uh...this. Heh!

I think if you wanted to make it a little more "exciting" you could have gone with some brighter and more vibrant colors, but looking at some of the thumbnails of your art on the right it doesn't look like vibrant colors are your style....

Most disney movies lack the fat bottom lip on some characters

i believe at disney there were a couple large chins instead which still had a very similar look

I said "lip" not chins. Read carefully.

like i said they look similar and are practically the same style besides very few differences. to claim his style wasnt extremely similar to disney's works at the time is honestly ridiculous.

Chin and Lip are practically different parts of the body. same styles on different body parts don't make it the same.

Okay fine. Don Bluth did work there for a while until he had to leave and create his own works. Thus, Disney adopted "some" of his style but not all of it; including the "fat bottom lip"

This is TOTALY what the SMB movie in the 80's SHOULD have been!! How did I not think of it sooner?
I hope comparisons to Don Bluth are okay! But from this single shot I can picture the whole flick in my head. Β And it is Gorgeous! I wonder if Bluth would have gone for it? Β Eh, you don't need him... Β Wonderful, vivid and inspiring work!! Β A fresh, surprising take on the characters in a world I figured would have done them all by now.

THIS is the reason Mario blows up every castle he finishes...
I can't help saying it, but I really like the huge exaggerations on the faces. My favorite has to be the Koopa to the right - it looks nowhere as serious as the other three's.
Did Mario and Luigi have inconsistent hair between the facial and the rest?
