Woohoo!! A character lineup of my take on Columbo, one of my favorite shows from when I was younger and I am still obsessed with it! I still always watch it with my dad.
In March 2017, I doodled a simple Fox-version of Columbo while watching some episodes on tv, who I eventually named Peter Fox as a play on Peter Falk! After creating him and drawing him lots, I felt a lot of happiness, and a sense of comfort even! Columbo is a character that’s a huge favorite of mine, I even cosplayed him twice at the conventions I attended this year, and I'll also be him for halloween too. xD It was a fursuit-cosplay though, which means basically I'm in my Kosmo fursuit and cosplaying him, LOL!

So, in September 2017... I out of the blue started a project where I re-draw scenes from every episode in my animal alternate universe version of the show. Today, I posted this lineup of characters, the final episode, and the pilot! I chose today to post all these to commemorate what would have been Peter Falk’s 91st birthday!
Falling back into the show after so long helped me through a difficult time that was April 2017. Even finding a little place in the fandom after sharing my artwork in the FB group changed my life too! (honestly thinking that nothing would really come of it, let alone I didn’t think anyone would be interested in my silly ideas, heh!) I met so many great friends! Originally, I only posted the fan-art in the facebook group of fellow fans of the show, but then I expanded it to its own Twitter (twitter.com/ColumboFox )and my instagram too! C: Both Columbos have a huge place in my life and heart. :3

Like I had written on Twitter a while ago, throughout the year I've been doing these, not only is it super fun drawing and sharing them with everyone- It honestly helped me with impromptu character designs, and just overall helped me improve my drawing skills! I was inspired to draw a character lineup after seeing the one in the rare Columbo Guidebook from Japan, I just loved how the artwork looked and thought it would be cool to do my own version! 8D

Most of the time I’d know instantly what animal I’d assign to a villain due to things like their personality, occupation, and even looks! But yeah, most just easily clicked with an animal I had thought of for them.

Or, sometimes I’d get stuck and have to research on different animals to see what traits fit the character in the show.

I’d also take inspiration from the title of the episodes, for example Swan Song(Swan villain), The Greenhouse Jungle(Tiger villain), A Bird In The Hand(Cast is mainly birds), Columbo Cries Wolf(Wolf villain), Double Shock(Electric Eel twins), and much more!

I really wanted to go all out this year since it marks the shows 50th anniversary! I had lots of fun with the project, but it’s not over yet! Today was just the finale of a full run-through. There’s still many characters and scenes I have yet to reveal in the PFaC universe!
