All hail Princess Celestia! Finally got some time to finish this. I really like how Megasweet draws Celestia in her human version so I got inspired to draw this. Anyways enjoy!Celestia (C) Lauren Faust

I actually blame Discord for all of Celestia and Luna's pain. I mean think about it... would it not make sense that he would have tried turning the sisters against each other like he did the six? Yet it would seem they held together and we able to defeat him.
Yet, perhaps he was able to plant seeds of doubt and uncertainty in Luna's heart... causing her to see her loving sister in a different like. These seeds could have then grown, causing her to see things in a more negitive light. Causing her to think no one liked her or loved her. That her sister did love her and that everypony only loved her.
This could have easily lead to her feelings of loneliness and jealously, causing Luna to perhaps create 'Moony', an imaginary friend as well as look for a means of becoming stronger then her sister. Which could the gotten Luna to do that which caused her to lose herself had have 'Moony' take over.
Celestia could have not seen this change for a number of reason. Perhaps her duties as princess we taking up all her time, perhaps Luna start bugging Celestia for more attention... perhaps, as is common when one is depressed... Luna distanced herself from Celestia. Luna hide her feelings and pretended nothing was wrong. You would be suprised at just how many loving families did not realize something was wrong with a member of then famliy until it was to late.
In this case Celestia did not realize her sisters 'fall' until see was already too late, thus forcing Celestia into a corner and needing to make a choice. Let this... force that controlled her sister destroy Equestria or find a way to defeat her. Now it is clearly shown that alone, Celestia was not strong enough to fight Nightmare Moon. So Celestia went fr the most powerful for known in Equestria... the Elements of Harmony.
Yet, as has been shown, the Elements of Harmony only work when harmony and friendships is strong. Yet Celestia only friend, her beloved sister Luna, was no more. Somehow it would seem Celestia forced or was able to use the Elements. Yet it seemed she was unable to uses them full. It showed that she only wore the crown, the Element of Magic, and not the others. My thoughts are is that she did not have the means to free her sister from the darkness that controlled her. Instead the Elements banished Luna for 1000 years on the Moon. It would make since that this was not what Celestia wanted to happen.
Imagine, all these years Celestia living with this guilt, living with the loneliness of losing her only friend and the only one that could understand her. Is Celestia perfect... no, yet she does the best she can and thinks of others before herself. For 1000 years Celestia ruled Equestria all by herself, watching all those she grew close to live and died. Undertsnading that by her choices a pony could be hurt or suffer... that is a heavy burden indeed.
Yet Celestia does so, not only that but she does it with a calm and even playfulness. Hiding from all the pain she most likely held inside herself, not even Twilight truly understanding her mentor.

In this scenario, it's possible/likely that Celestia was hoping that after the 1000 banishment, there would be a means to put things right (or at least try). That chance came in the form of Twilight Sparkle and the rest of the Mane Six.

Awesome job. You did great presenting her with elegance as well as beauty. Her overall figure, when compared to the rest of the humanized cast, represents her stature in the show well without making her eight feet tall which is what I'd picture the direct height ratio would be.

The human Princess Celestia looks very regal and more than beautiful even as she sits so casually in her throne. She looks relaxed, yes, yet she still seems to have a very royal aura. Perhaps the laid back attitude helps supplicants feel more relaxed during their audience with her. Even with the relaxed pose Celestia still seems like she's listening and cares very much.
Plus she looks marvelous. The throne and background are great too.
