i use sign language with the deaf people but i just talk with non-deaf people!
the implant can pick up every sound but if it is too quiet then i cant hear it so basically i can hear but just not as accurate as you

some wear hearing aids so they can hear, but it depends on the type of deafness and how severe it is. sometimes you might not know someone is deaf until they tell you because they speak and write so well.

heh...it's bound to happen but one time at the store I felt horrible for my one deaf freind....he was just buying some groceries for college but the idiot at the counter couldn't tell he was deaf and kept going "what?" really loud. It was so retarded....cus I could understand his 'deaf speech' from being around him and the person couldn't...Then I asked him what he thought of what happened and he said that it happened a lot when he went to hearing places and it was annoying but that he had to deal with it..
