I'm gonna have to go on a tangent to answer this. xD Soooo in this universe, species who aren't based on living creatures reproduce in a way that has both parents do the same thing: they chip off a piece of each of their bodies, and putting the pieces together creates the offspring. This complete equality makes them have a different relationship with gender than animal and plant like species, so more of them tend to be agender/nonbinary/etc., even if the species has male and female sexes. (Golem is part lizard, but they grow up as the very non-organic Geodude, so it applies.) So a lot of Golem are genderless, but not all.

hmmm.... although. can pokemon even have a relationship with gender like ppl do? not like they can wear dresses (i mean they CAN, but only if the trainer gave them one). not trying to over criticize you, just an interesting thought

A lot of PokΓ©mon here have the same level of sentience as humans, so they are capable of thinking about concepts like gender. It doesnβt matter as much to them as to humans, though. Even if a species has strong gender roles in their society, they usually wonβt discriminate someone who goes against them. Theyβre just more chill. (But humans are more advanced than in our world, too. This is a happy story. :V)
