Cloud had to pull Daisy away from a conversation with Nikki, and bring her back to Angel. "What is so important Angel?" Daisy asked when they were back under the tree. "Cloud has told me that you have been unable to produce a foal Daisy". Daisy stepped back, hung her head, and nodded. Cloud rubbed his head against her side, and told her not to be ashamed. They both looked back up, and Angel continued, "Daisy, have you ever had an injury to your stomach, or anywhere in that area?". "Y-yes. When was a yearling, I wandered off by myself. I went too close to the edge of a cliff, the rock crumbled under my feet, and I fell a little way down. I landed heavily on my side". "I remember you telling me that story. That's why you have that scar on your side" Cloud said, nudgeing a faded mark on Daisy's right flank". Angel sighed and said, "I have seen mares with problems like yours before Daisy, and unfortunately, none of them were ever able to bear a foal". Daisy and Cloud gasped, then Daisy exclaimed, " I was sore for a few days after the accident, but I never though that it would prevent me from having children". Angel nudged them and said, "I am so sorry, I wish I had a better explanation for you". Angel left them alone to talk.
Daisy was distraught. "Cloud, I-I, I'm so sorry, you must hate me". Cloud rubbed his head against her neck affectionaltely and said, " No, do not ever think that Daisy. I still love you as much as I ever did". Daisy gave a small smile, then asked, "But what are we going to do if we cannot produce an heir? Blaze has already said that he does not want to take over leadership of the herd, and your sister is too young". Cloud looked down, unable to answer her.
