Description
This is a piece of art I picked up in my college days. In some ways I could consider it mine, but in other ways I can't - Let me explain.I found the original art on a piece of printer paper in the campus library. It was used as a book marker. To give you an idea as to how old this piece is, the image was printed using a dot pitch printer where each pixel can be seen as a tiny square. And the original was printed in 8.5x11 size.
I have always had a fondness for unicorns, so I took the art piece home. I wanted to convert it into a BMP file so, during what free time I could find, I began to count the dots in the image and calculated how many were in an area of the print and got an engineer's ruler to assist in getting the spaces between the elements of the image to come out being true to the original. Thankfully, the image was very accurate, possibly due to it being printed on a very well maintained printer. This took me about a month to finally finish the conversion.
Another indication as to how old this image is - I did the work on a PC with Win 3.1!!
This is what might give me justification as to ownership - the time-consuming toil of converting by hand from a piece of paper to the screen. But, as you can see, it did originate on a BBS {bulletin board service, for those not in the know - THE very beginning of the internet!}
May all enjoy the fruits of my a-long-time-ago-in-a-galaxy-far-far-away labor!
