So...it's uh...basically been three years since I've even attempted digital art...
I've started practicing recently, especially with colouring, but yeah. It's not perfect and my confidence with digital art is still eh, but hey
Um
I did a thing.

Anyway,
This is Red Sapphire , really basically a Ruby with future vision. So she's technically defective, but in a way that benefits her and Homeworld.
Because of this technicality, they call her "Red Sapphire" to sweep the fact that she's actually a Ruby under the rug.

Name: Red Sapphire (Ruby)
Gender Pronouns: she/her
Weapon/Powers/Abilities: future vision, pyrokenisis (fire manipulation)
Status: high-ranking in White Diamond's (originally Pink Diamond's) court

Gems Beneath Her: Cherry Pearl (not shown here because then I'd have to draw her digitally and umm...idk if I'm quite ready for that yet otl)

Fun Fact(s)/Trivia:
She never opens her eyes, except the third one on her forehead, which obviously makes her different from other Rubies, and of course, also other Sapphires.
She's recently become a benefactor of the Gem Labs , where scientific Gems work for the Diamonds with similar rules to medicine cats in Warriors (eg you don't have to show as much loyalty to the Diamonds and can interact more freely with other Gems from other courts and exchange info a bit more freely. Even wearing the diamond insignia isn't completely necessary - it's still technically required, but most Gems treat it like an option!).
She has been experimented on in the Gem Labs (I've thought of making her a Geneva (artificial) Ruby made in the Labs with future vision, but I'm not sure yet)

Personality:

Calm, quiet, and collected, she is well-aware that she is an outlier and an oddity, but she lives her life in court with her head held high and deals with any opposition as best as she can. She is fairly kind-hearted, because she understands that she is still a Ruby and Rubies and other lower-ranking Gems do not live as favourable lives on Homeworld.

Because of this sympathy/pity/empathy, she tries to take care of lower-ranking Gems, be reasonable, but still honest. Red Sapphire does think the rebels are not technically in the wrong, but she knows she still works for Homeworld against the rebels. When it comes to off-coloured Gems, however, she will do her best to protect them (especially since in a way, she's off-coloured too). She also isn't really for Homeworld sucking Earth and other planets dry, but she understands why it's a thing and doesn't think she can really do anything about it.

Backstory:

Maybe made in the Gem Labs, Homeworld quickly saw her worth and Pink Diamond took her into her court, where Red Sapphire remained. She did have a vision once of the Crystal Gems' Pearl and Rose Quartz, and she grew conflicted of the rebels and their cause as she questioned things. As she lived longer, she learned to better keep her emotions under check and has shared prophecies with Pink Diamond about the rebels, but there are certain things she'd keep to herself (she knew most Sapphires would report something anyway).

After Pink Diamond's shattering, she was moved to White Diamond's court, where she's had to deal with more discrimination than before, but she is now much better at handling it.

Relationships:
Cherry Pearl: she gets along well with her Pearl
Pink Diamond: she remembers her fondly
White Diamond: they are respectful to one another, but not close
Dark Sapphire: their relationship is strained; while both are polite, it's clear that Dark Sapphire kind of looks down on her
Gray Sapphire: polite and fair; probably would be better friends if they tried to get to know one another better
Black Sapphire: okay relationship; not very close
