Description Use ASDF and the arrow keys to play!!
Work out all the attack by yourself!!

I'm quite happy with the moveset, but the controls suck.
I'd like to hear what keys you think would be more comfortable, or is 4 action keys too much?
I might try changing the heavy-attack key into smash-attack style execution.
Press ESCAPE to change the keys.
ENTER to restart if you die or glitch.

Also tell me the collision detection is not the worst you've seen in a flash game.

Also check out the lag when the boss dies.


Things that I will add later:
Add REAL TIME WEAPON CHANGE.
Weapons will be collected throughout the game, and give you different magic attacks.
HP/MP/Attack upgrades, Zelda 2 style.
Maybe some attack combos.
Boss health meter.

oh i did see one small glitch wile fighting with the boss. i was holding S and D for repeating strong attacks, and strangely enough. i lost all my health, fell to pieces, then was reborn right during the fight. i was only reborn with like no health but it strangely let me fighting over and over until i moved away from him.

lolz if you die, any actions take priority over your death animation. :/

oh i see, so fighting attacks will keep going after your dead until there are no more actions.

btw the stars over by the right. if i fall next to them, in fact i should have died but the star keeped me in the air. i do understand why tho.

i am a fellow flash artiest. i work with java. but i don't dare go into games, i remembered making a game onces before.. lets not get into it lol.

Wow. The controls are very intuitive. It was very easy to find out how the special attacks like Quake and Seiken work, even though you didn't mention them... i just searched for it xD
You should add like... a hadoken move that triggers the windslash
I'm amazed, because this seems to be what happened to that little "nolegs on platformers" thingy.
Very great work.
But it's still VERY slidy. I had a BIG problem landing on small platforms.

And to your question:
I think 3 action buttuns are just right. but i'd prefer using D as defend and W as jump key.
(and don't listen to that'd just get complicated with the diffenrend key settings in differen countrys)

Nice for starting off. Good variety of attacks. I'm quite interested in the future add-ons and I look forward to playing a more complete version.

The issue with the jump and up button doesn't bother me much. It's like Megaman. But, the way you change the controls is kinda crude. I suggest having a menu so that you can select which button you want to change rather than having to cycle through all the keys. That's just a minor thing though.

I think it's better if the portals can be activated manually by pressing a button. It annoys me when I accidentally walk/get hit into one.

It would also be nicer if the colour was different when receiving or dealing damage. Like, blue for dealing and red for receiving to make it easier to know who got hit.

Lastly, a few tiny glitches. When you restart the game and if there are slime balls still flying in the air, they can hurt you! o__O The others I found have already been pointed out (the crosshair and the platform issues)

All in all, I think this could turn out to be a very fun platformer as I've enjoyed your other works too~

Awesome game, i think if u make up the jump button, it may be better. then make space ur norm. attack, z ur hard attack, and x ur block. Cool game tho

Quite simply put, beautiful! You've created all the needed elements but a story! Fast, simple addictive gameplay, satisfying combat, and your trademark semi-anime-cartoonish-nightmare drawing style! I'm lovin' it!

The game is very cool though if there are slime bubbles in the air and you restart then they spawn with you as well. Also: Is there a 'up' special move? Thirdly: How about some health pick-ups?

Great game engine! I guess I'll list the stuff I love/hate here.. (Can't do a Critique since I'm a standard user )

I already love the variety of controls for each attack for each direction, a double move-set for standard and powerful, reminiscent of the double move-set for SuperSmashBros. series (but special/normal instead). One problem I have is that there are two keys for up and jump. I'd love to have both be teh same key, but it's too difficult/impossible to do upward attacks. And adding a delay for the jump (so you could do an upward attack [like SuperSmashBros]) would not be good for control either (I'm sure delay would piss some people off).. I'm not entirely sure how to fix this, but I had to have the three action keys (attack, str-attack, def.) two three of my fingers, and the jump key for my thumb. (Not the best configuration, but something I sorta got used to). Also did an wasd style, with w being the jump key, but is also kind of difficult to get used to..
The only solution I can think of is have ALOT of options for changing controls in the game. That way, everyone can be satisfied. And I guess have the game save your settings for controls too, and a set-to-default-setting for those nit-picky people (And screw ups). (If it's not too much trouble of course!)

Cool boss, which flinches (unlike Maple Story) which unfortunately could be abused, but I think the knockback fixes that problem. (It was very difficult for me to kill it anyway... dang king slime...) Oh right. the whole thing had vibes of MS and SSB mixed together, which I really liked!

A few problems I noticed was that you can't really fall off the rotating platforms if you stand still on them, and that you can live for a short period of time by button-mashing the standard-attack button after hp has gone to zero. But a cool demo that I think anyone would enjoy! I'd be even more surprised if you had P2 tag along as a following computer-AI, but I'm sure that'd be way difficult, and would be better to tag/switch between them. (It would be really cool if there was a third secret character who'd be a cameo from another game, or one of your previous flashes...)

I'm just throwing some ideas out there, I'm sure it be really hard to do everything I've asked for, but even if you didn't I'd still be excited for whatever game you're cooking up now! Good job!

Those rotating platforms are just for testing, I don't plan to leave them like that.

I find using SPACE and 3 more keys above it works okay-ish.

The game seesm to run fine. though I would suggest if you intend to use these attacks (you dont seem to be), make sure all the heavy attacks are a lot slower. some are a bit to fast and would no doubt be spammed over the "faster" light attacks.

i found the engine to work amazingly well, however i found one small bug.
in the boss thing, when i tried to run through it, because i'm too good for jumping >.>, the light attack would not stop even though i was not pushing it. just informing you of this.

I think the engine is terribly awesome.
The dodging is nice, smb style. Uh, just found one bug, when you change maps and do the forward strong attack (huge sword laser thing) at the same time the cursor stays on the map.
I don't think collision is terrible. But i guess it could use some work

The boss is really, really hard though..
and if it hits you while you're doing the holy sword thing, the cross-hair stays on screen for the rest of the game.
