Description I will move all all WIPs to scraps when I am completely finished.

As I promised, here is a much more recent photo. Though I am annoyed because it blurred D<
I hate my camera >.>

I think.... THINK
that I can kick this up the arse and call it complete now..
appart from maybe a few small details I may need to add in

I did a lot of work on it today.. I wasn't as distracted as usual... must be because SOMEONE wasn't at school today to distract me >3
you know who you are.

anyways moving on.
Here's a small explanation:
I am still going by the idea of the Cat of the Zodiac.
I have 3 parts to the series, the first is an oil painting, the other two are drawings.
This is my second part of my Major work, representing the cat after it has been cast out of the Zodiac and how it appears in a modern-ish setting. A stray/alley cat basically.

my third piece will be similar to this- only on a more nicer, well looked after and "loved" cat.

kind of to represent "Good and Evil" if you could call it that, or- "Two Sides of the Coin"

Blah I'm babbling now because I've lost track of my thoughts.

Constructive crit is still very very VERY muchly welcome.
But I am setting this aside for now to work on my other pieces I will leave it til later to apply any more changes.
.... I also need to come up with a name for this thing =/

*squints* ... the whiskers are there, it's hard to see though... stupid blurry camera.

THEFT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, DO NOT USE WITHOUT PERMISSION!!!

...Oh my.

I can't really say anything that's already been said regarding critique... but this is still stunning. ¦D

I really love the dents in the trash can. They look so convincing! XD

And I'm liking your idea for the "two sides of the coin" kinda thing. Maybe you can keep this one without colour and the other with colour to further bring out the idea of contrast. 8O

Hmmm, a name. If it's tied to your other pieces, maybe you can wait until they are finished too to create names. <3 Maybe then you can make the names relate sortathingIdunno.

HYUUURRR.
And I see the whiskers! <3

~

What you've said already was a great help |D

Thank you |D it was difficult to find a good ref of the trash can x.X
They were always shiny and new! D: I wanted mangled!

yeah, I'm putting "two sides of the coin" in for consideration for a name. I haven't really had time to just sit back and mull over names yet XD and that basically sums up the idea I want to portray in my work.
though I will probably do a different name
at this point I'm thinking I won't have time to watercolour it, but that is a good idea *scribbles down on to-do-if-I-can list*

Mangled! We want mangled! D:
<3

I suppose it's a sort of thing you'd do right at the start or right at the end. Or if you're at a good point inbetween. Or maybe that's just how my silly head works. XD
I can't wait to see what you come up with, though. <3

Well egg has just given me a few details i'd like to mention and going along with what miss said today.

I actually think you don't really need to de-shade the bricks but to make the lid of the bin darker, to bring out the cat more.

The bottom half is good, and like what egglet said. Taking chips and chunks from the bricks would be great. Just looking around my house now. Every brick is different. They all have their unique cracks and chips.
Your bricks look too ....uniform o.O
Also the concrete between them has cracks and chunks too so yeah. Time to get cracking BWUAHAHAH ...hahaha..ha....lol sorry couldn't help myself.

Who knew bricks were so complicated x_x

okay, thanks :]
I'll try shading in the bin lid darker
and if I can, get cracking on those bricks ;D

I definitely like the rich darkness, it has a very noir feel to it. Also the dents on the bin give it a nice touch. I'm just wondering if you would like to give the bricks a similar treatment, eg chipped/chunks missing or graffiti etc. and possible bring the cat out more?

Also photo tip, take it in the sun light or use some bright lamps so the shutter speed is higher plus auto focus can detect the picture, low light usually leads to poor photos on old/cheap digi cams, note when you half hold the shutter release it will attempt to auto focus but it should tell you whether or not it could focus, if not focused then release and try again, a bright touch can help to focus and then turn it off before taking the picture.

ah the bricks, I did try to give them texture, I didn't really think on them very much though, thanks for the tip ^^
I did think of graffiti at one point, but I figured it would distract too much from the cat.
I'll try to do that.

curtains were open and lights were on everywhere. but it was late afternoon when I took this so it was already pretty dim. also I was at school, the thumbnail picture on the camera didn't look blurry but when I got home and put it on the computer... it died.
it was hard taking a good photo when I was standing on the table and leaning over it.
also... I hate digital cameras, I have no idea how to change the settings on that. you showed me, but you showed me too much all at once, I can't remember it all. I did remember holding the release button focuses though.

cool good luck

yeah I always take more than one photo. I always use the limited manual mode (ie the M one), all the adjustments are under the menu so hit that button and cycle through the pages (ie there is about 3 screens so be sure to cycle pass the edge of the screen to get to the others) until you find the aperture and set that to 2.8 and adjust the white balance to what ever one sets the colours to look right. that's all I do and that's all you can do with that camera. also keep as still as possible when taking the photo, even using self timer helps, put the camera on a surface if you can will be ideal. that camera will train you to develop ultra steady hands which is very useful. hope that helps
