Quick update on Miracle's parents: I adjusted Ray's design because I had a hard time finding a picture of a blue non-merle Australian shepherd, and of course having a double merle gene has consequences for the pups.

That said, here's some information on the two:

Ray Foster
41 - Male - Merpup (Red Non-Merle Australian Shepherd)
Inventor - Hydro Force Prototype Ranger
Current Status: Unknown (Presumed Deceased)

Nova Foster
39 - Female - Blue Merle Australian Shepherd
Scientist
Current Status: Alive

Backstory:
During his youth, Ray witnessed a war between the merpups and the sirens. While they ultimately won, many lives were lost. Since then, he vowed to create a system in which the merpups fight any threat more effectively. Years later, he would meet a scientist by the name of Nova, who wanted to make ranger technology accessible to the world and has already made a breakthrough by creating this universe's version of Morph-X. Seeing their goals align, they agreed on the partnership, and that partnership later grew into something more.

To make a long story short, Miracle and Caspian were born. An occasion to celebrate, but this birth led to tragedy because it was forbidden for merpups to have pups with a "landwalker", and thus Ray and his pups were cursed with great suffering should they enter Puplantis again, effectively banishing them.

Nova still holds a grudge over the royal family over what they have done, but she couldn't let them into her home lest she risks their lives. Yes, Ray is a special species of merpup that can switch between land and sea forms, and that gene is inherited by the pups, but Ray can only stay on land for so long with regular hydration before submersion is required. Knowing this, it was only logical to assume that the pups shared this weakness.

They continued to work on the technology as planned before they finally managed to create a prototype of what will become the Hydro Force Morpher using shrimp DNA, which Ray was able to test successfully. The design was later refined and developed into three new morphers which used lobster, shark, and sea turtle DNA. Things were going well for them. Then disaster struck.

While Miracle and Caspian were twelve, Nova was sent to Adventure City on a research project which was to last for a year. During this time, Ray and the pups were going about life as normal until a siren attack caused Miracle to be separated from her family. For months she has been searching for them hoping that they were still alive, until she found his communicator, damaged to the point that it could not be repaired.
