Excuse me, but since you posted yours about 2 minutes ago, and the artist here posted it twenty-two hours ago, I don’t think she is the one stealing art. 🤨

If this game won't have actual dungeons and key items with new abilities...

Then it's gonna be as disappointing as the first Breath of the Wild to me...

Zelda without lengthy dungeons is not Zelda.
I've never cared about overworld. Overworld in Zelda games is just an obstacle before reaching the dungeon.

To be honest i enjoyed the Shrines and the Titans a lot more than the traditional Dungeons. The reason is that i am just to impatient with the traditional Dungeons because some of them are really confusing and kind of weirdly structured and too long. But i still like the traditional dungeons so that nobody misunderstands me.

I don't think that, if there will be proper dungeons in Botw 2, the dungeongs will be like the ones in the previous games but more like ancient ruins, like the Pyramids of Gizeh or the Abu Simbel Palace of Ramses. I have the feeling that they would be open, like the shrines and Titans ( so that you mostly wont have to collect keys or other items), while at the same time they could contain really heavy puzzles (that is why i prefer the shrines and Titans over traditional Dungeons) and a lot of hidden lore as the cave drawings suggest.

In Botw the Overworld was one gigantic Dungeon in itself and you have to remember that Nintendo said that Botw would be a completely new take on the Zelda series. It is true that in the previous games the dungeons where the most important focus than the Overworld but since Botw is a new "kind" of Zelda that tradition had been reversed.

Botw was heavily inspired by the Miyasaki Studio Ghibli movies like Princess Nausicaä, Princess Mononoke and Castle in the Sky. In these movies the enviroment/overworld was one of the most important parts and the main point of the story and they where heavily post- apocalyptic.

The Overworld in Botw ( i am sorry that i write Botw so often) had the same post-apocalyptic feeling like the three Miyasaki movies.

The game doesn't force you to play like it wants you to do but, instead, in encourages you to play like you want and to create your own adventure.

In a sense Botw itself was like Ocarina of Time and Botw 2 will be the Majoras Mask of the two games. And many people i know consider Majoras Mask to be better than Ocarina of Time, simply because of the darker and melancholic atmosphere.

Even though Ayoma (i don't know how to write his name) said that Botw 2 and Majoras Mask are not related, story/inspirational wise, it doesn't mean that Botw 2 wont be one of the darkest Zelda games ever, even though i don't know what the future will hold for us.

Who knows maybe the sequel will be playing more in the Undergroud of the Botw Overground than on the actual Overworld itself, but we will be still playing on the Overworld itself.

And it would be kind of cool if we could, like in Hyrule Warriors, change to control over both Zelda and Link. But i wont be dissapointed if it doesn't have that feature.

All in all i eagerly await the day when the sequel will come out. I Love Botw, it is my first "Open-World" game, and i am excited to return to this free world.

Keytee-chan In reply to Alice2260541 [2019-06-15 18:41:09 +0000 UTC]

My gripe with BotW is that the world is very... empty and repeating.
Look, once you pass the border of first 10-20 hours into the game... everything outside shrines (Not trials of power), and story-important things will become boring.     You get a chest in a shrine, that contains big freezing sword... good, it's the third one i already have! I guess i'll have to throw something out!
Most of the items are NOT UNIQUE.
Compare to Ocarina of Time, when almost every item is unique, except for collectibles.      The ore for Biggoron's sword was unique.       Zora scale is unique.       A lot of items change how you will approach things. Zora Scale allows you to breath more underwater.       Iron Boots allow you to walk on bottom of water.      When you finally get your own bombs, it's like a breath of fresh air, as you can stop rushing with bomb flowers! Every key item you get changes the perception of things!            After every dungeon, you play the game a little differently.
In Breath of the Wild, almost EVERYTHING is a collectible.      Yet another apple, yet another sword, yet another diamond.      You have bombs, magnetism, stasis and kryosis right from the beginning... and everything plays the same.      Sure, there's Champion's upgrades... but only Revali's Wind changes the approach to things, it's the one i use the most.        You won't get items in the game that would change your perception of gameplay, that would change how you will play the game. (Outside of Great Plaetau).

When i started to play Link's Awakening on Game Boy emulator, i fell in love with it's formula.      Every time you get a new item in a dungeon, you get new areas to explore.       And then you meet with obstacles that can be passed through later, and they live you with... ANTICIPATION.            Anticipation that you will soon be able to surpass this obstacle.
In Breath of the Wild you can do everything from the beginning! There's NO anticipation of obstacles!
This is kind of... Metroidvania-like approach.        Like in Super Metroid, every time you get a new item, new paths can be explored. That is what i love! You actually have REASON to explore!
While Breath of the Wild just makes me use Interactive Map just to get this done with.

I won't deny, when i just started playing Breath of the Wild, i was IMMERSED! I thought it was the best zelda!
...Then the first 10-20 hours passed and i've realized how repeating it is.

Lengthy Dungeons are the thing that i loved and anticipated the most in the older Zelda games. Every dungeon provided with a new layout, new enemies!
...Breath of the Wild used the same enemies, just recolored.

Ocarina of Time was smaller in location size... which made it better! Smaller the size, the less repeating the game is! Which means you ecounter new stuff every time! Unlike Breath of the Wild which becomes the same after the first beast.

"In Botw the Overworld was one gigantic Dungeon"
*sigh* if i will hear that claim from anyone one more time... *sigh* nevermind...

Wait... you said that Breath of the Wild is your first open world game?
...Play Assassin's Creed Origins, or Assassin's Creed Odyssey.         After i played AC Origins, i've realized how shallow and incomplete Breath of the Wild is.
Most of Russian gamers never even heard of Legend of Zelda before Breath of the Wild, because Russians are mostly PC gamers. So when most of Russians saw the ratings of Breath of the Wild, they were surprised on "How this no-name title gets to much praise?" and when they finally played it, they still wondered "And how exactly this open-world game is better than Morrowind, Skyrim, Witcher 3?"

So your claim that "I Love Botw, it is my first "Open-World" made me realize that Breath of the Wild is so popular, because most of it's players never ever played an Open World game before XDDD

Sorry this will be a very long comment.

Botw is not empty. The life is just hidden, like life in the desert. And i watched lets plays on Assassins Creed games, but to me they are a bit to complicated and to realistically made, in character design and game play even though they are still great games.

I simply don`t get warm with life action like games where the characters look like real humans. I am more of an old school gamer. I simply love on how Nintendo is still doing more comic/anime/manga kind of graphics. My favorite type of games are still jump and run games and indie games and not hyperrealisticly action or RPG games.

In Botw there are so many things to do, you only have to watch very closely.

I love to take photos with the Shiekah Slate of the post-apocalyptic world or simply goofing around and setting things on fire or collect many things to cook meals with or make potions. I also enjoy to simply explore the seemingly desolate places and wonder how they got forgotten or destroyed and who lived there before Calamity Ganon returned.

I also love to search for the Korok seeds, so that Hatsu can enlarge my inventory.

Searching for the Shrines is also very fun and whenever i encounter Kass i simply listen to his accordion song for a while before doing his side quests.

I remember when i first saw one of the three dragons that i was in awe and simply watched them fly through the sky and listen to the music.

It was quite fun to search the locations of Links memories and to solve the many riddles and puzzles of the shrines and the Titans, a lot of them where really difficult and i liked that as well. In previous Zelda games the puzzles where more simpler and kind of obvious but in Botw you could solve them however you liked.

There was nothing in Botw which said " to solve this you must have xxxxxxxx or xxxxxxx". And if you want you can simply go to Hyrule Castle, after you first jumped from the great Plateu, and defeat the Calamity then and there.

Assassins Creed Origins took a lot of inspirations on Botw, mainly the sheer freedom of Botw. I mean, when you compare the Assassins Creed games before Origins with Botw then you see how overloaded the mini map was back then. The Map was so overfilled that it was difficult to even see Quests or other things and in a way it forced you to play the game.

In Botw the map was empty, you had to search for towns/ shrines/ the way to the Titans or even entire locations on your own. And only after you found them they would be added to the mini map.

And when you play in Master-Mode you can actually deactivate the mini map so that you are really not bound to always watch on it.

The only Main Quest in Botw is to defeat Calamity Ganon, what you do before you beat him/it is up to you. The Game is like "here is the main Quest. If you want to defeat the Calamity then you can, or you can do other things first or you can just set things on fire. It is entirely up to you". It never forces you to do things.

Botw may seem empty but it is not. It is just difficult to explain that.

It is difficult to explain on why i love Botw. Maybe it is because i am still a child in my heart.

The people your wrote about have probably the mindset that Nintendo is just for kids or that games, which are not realistically action based, are just for kids too.

But it is completely different.

Nintendo produces games for everyone. Everyone, from old people to young children, can play Nintendo, Atari and Co. games. They encourage you to enjoy your life and to become children again, even if only for a moment.

No matter how childish Nintendo games look there is often a hidden meaning in them.

Games like Zelda and Mario, for an example, are timeless and can be played practically forever, no matter how old or young you are.

Games like Skyrim, Witcher or Co. may look fantastic and realistic but they are, more or less, made for Teens and young adults, or older adults.

We don't know what kind of games will come out in the far future but without Nintendo, Sega, Atari and Co. the video games world probably wouldn't had become so popular and vast like today.

There is simply a magic about Nintendo and Co. that Sony, Microsoft and the others don't have.

The sames goes to the Disney movies, old an new.

Even though i wish that Disney would return to their roots, on how to make their hand drawn movies and not only focusing on computer animation or live action movie, i still love Disney.

My favourite Disney movies are still the old ones like Lion King, Aristocats and so on.

Again it is difficult to explain why, maybe it is Nostalgia but i still enjoy today movies as well.

It is alright when you enjoy things differently then i do, since everyone has different tastes and interests.

Again it is difficult to explain my love for Botw and Co. It is just the way i am.

I hope you understand that.

What i hate Breath of the Wild is for how fanboys talk like
"There will be no better Zelda game"
"Best Zelda ever made"
And they always say the SAME THING when i ask them why they love this game.
"It's the Open world"
"You're free to do what you want"
And they all say the same stuff, nothing new.

They feel so posh and mighty, and shun everyone who tells them objective points about why this game is not that good.

I prefer Metroidvania-like games, that open up piece by piece based on your progress.
Where items matter, and every item is unique and crucual to the playthough.

Please try out Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. Now this is the game that i really enjoyed exploration! ^_^

Also you haven't answered me about my point about "Useless items of BotW compared to unique items in previous Zelda games".

Sorry if i might sound rude. It's just the way i talk, i harbor no ill feelings.

Don`t worry. You didn't sound rude.

About the items, i am not that strict.

For me items don't have to be unique, or something like that, as long as they work and as long as i can work with them.

What i mean is that sometimes i have problems with the unique Items of Zelda, not because i don't like them i am simply to impatient to use them.

I hate my impatience.

And i am not really a good gamer. I only play from time to time. It is often that i play for a whole week and then making 1 and a half year long break.

You can imagine how long it would take me to complete a whole RPG when i take such long breaks.

I only have a small amount of Consoles. I possess the SNES, an 2DS and two New 3DS, a Game Boy Advance SP, the Wii and now the Switch. I prefer smaller consoles over big consoles, the simple reason is that i don't have space for a PS4 or the XBox. And to be honest i don't need every console.

I am sorry when i sounded like a Nintendo Fangirl. I love Nintendo, don't get me wrong, because of their simplicity and fun nature but i love the other game developers as well.

It is just that, like i mentioned before, western or realistic games are just not my style of gaming.

I have tried to play Witcher 3 or other games like that but they are a bit to complicated for me to play personally. But they are still great games.

Dammit, i wrote to much again. I really have a problem on keeping my comments short. I simply have to much in my head.

I'm an old-school gamer as well.
But it so happens that i enjoy some modern games as well.
I love Assassin's Creed Origins for it's Egyptian atmosphere, because as a kid i was a huge fan of Ancient Egypt.
As for "Botw is not empty. The life is just hidden, like life in the desert." can you stop making stuff that sounds like excuses?
in Wind Waker, the world was flooded, yet it was still full of life. Even latter part of Ocarina of Time, where Ganon conquered the world, it was still full of life.
WAIT! WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT LIFE?!
What i meant is the filling! Breath of the Wild is too empty of stuff.
I would be glad it Breath of the Wild would be Twice of Thrice as smaller, so it would not feel as empty.

"I love to take photos with the Shiekah Slate"
I don't see the point of that, when you can just buy all the monster photos for rupees.

"In Botw there are so many things to do, you only have to watch very closely.

I love to take photos with the Shiekah Slate of the post-apocalyptic world or simply goofing around and setting things on fire or collect many things to cook meals with or make potions. I also enjoy to simply explore the seemingly desolate places and wonder how they got forgotten or destroyed and who lived there before Calamity Ganon returned."
Or just use online maps, it's way easier, and this way i won't miss anything in the game. Because i just hate missing stuff and then go back to find it.

My most enjoyable way to play this game is to open an region map, and then pinpoint all the Korok Seed, Shrines, Bosses locations by using online map, and then collect them ^_^
My favorite style of playing games is to follow the treasure map, not to explore.
My first RPG game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, even though it's easily playable without a guide, when i got a guide to this game, i was so immersed in following it. I loved to read how it was written everything in order, and i always done stuff in order that it was written, on my every playthrough! ^_^

As for Kass, yeah, i really love him and his music ^_^

You know what game in my childhood made me love to watch the scenery? Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. I loved to climb on ledges and look at backgrounds. To look at scenery and see my progress on the castle. And climbing Tower of Dawn was amazing, as you climbed higher and higher.                  Breath of the Wild did not give me that experience.
I prefer linear games.

"It is difficult to explain on why i love Botw. Maybe it is because i am still a child in my heart.

...Why are you telling me that?          I've played a lot of Mario games, Zelda games, old and new, i played most of Kirby games, i love Metroid, i love MOTHER (Earthbound Beginnings), i love Nintendo in general.
Why do you tell me stuff about videogame history, when it's ME who explores the video game history?
I'm currently playing 1991 games, and for the past few years i've played games that were released from 1985 to 1991.

"There is simply a magic about Nintendo and Co. that Sony, Microsoft and the others don't have.

I do understand that, no worries ^_^

But still what about my point that i was initially about the same mindset as you when i started playing Breath of the Wild, and then i've switched?

I apologize if i sounded rude.
I need to make one more separate reply to explain my gripe.

It's the first time that this character is a little more developped, and that's really cool ! I'm also glad that there's a sequel to the last words of BotW: "Do you remember me ?", because it's the only one (with Skyward Sword but I don't like it ) where Zelda and Link know each other before the adventure time ! And their relationship is strange so i'm really happy we could know more !

meh... not really... not to this point, it was just a princess, with power, captured by Ganondorf... here we can see her past, her hobbies, her aspirations, her hopes, her problems... we can see her being weak, doubting...

In Wind Waker: Tetra didn't know she is a descendant of Zelda, she see a prophecy, understand her fate, and go to find the sword... but her past, her hopes, all that make her what she is isn't really developped... she's just a secondary character !

But for Spirit Tracks I'll take a look, you're right, I don't know this one

Keytee-chan In reply to Silmera [2019-06-15 18:04:31 +0000 UTC]

...Hm... speaking of which...
What is up with modern stories in depicting characters as being "weak, doubting..."?
I don't like this realistic approach.

The characters must set the ideals for humans, not to act like lowly real humans.
I prefer when drama is set around the danger from the enemy, the allied character's life and stuff.
I don't like how modern dramas are focused on "Self-acceptance" and "Self-discovery".

I kinda prefer 80's and 90's anime, which were way more epic and less... "Whiny".
Just compare My Hero Academia to, say, Yu Yu Hakusho. My Hero Academia focuses too much on character's tears and emotions, while actual plot barely moves because of that.       While Yu Yu Hakusho used the character's personalities as an Accompaniment to the story, that make the story better.

So i prefer Story-centered stories, than character-centered stories.

Just as the world around us is way important than individuals, thus the story should be more important than characters.

I am. I hope for her being playable character this time around. And my biggest hope? Two playable characters that you swap between on the fly while the other is controlled by AI. Different strenghts and weaknesses for both her and Link during fights, different abilities for exploration(which in turn would made puzzles even more fun....and in turn it would give us even more ways to cheese through them by breaking the puzzles) and survival perhaps as well? Like, Zelda being great when it comes to creating potions while Link is a good cook? Or maybe even allow her, by finding blueprints, to be able to craft some Sheika tech gadgets and other useable things(ancient arrows too!). Hell it'd be interesting to have a "shrine" or whathever challenge that separates them and Link/Zelda have to go through it on their own and so on and on. Alot of possibilities.

Oh and Zelda has to have some magic at her disposal. Aaand she could've work in a similar fashion as Mimir in GoW. Giving us some info about the place we are in, ofcourse nerdgasming about some things like she did with that poor from in Links flashbacks in previous game.

I'm going to stop here.
