Sketch of Sidewinder from Out Cry. Shadow's grandfather was a hero during the "1st gen" hero era. He now runs Safe Net (underground information network for crime fighters) and helps his grandson and Out Cry navigate the dangerous world of super heroing. His Pitch Abilities allow him to transform his body into a whirling mass of black smoke. Repetitive use of this ability throughout his life seems to have greatly slowed his aging. He doesn't usually help out in the field but has countless old hero contacts and often finds himself helping them more directly when Out Cry is busy or when he wants to keep his family away from dangerous stuff.
