Hey Guys!

AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) and NSF (National Science Foundation) are holding a science visualization contest ... and I'm planning to submit this evolution related game I'm working on.

The game will be played for five minutes and then evaluated for "visual impact" "effective communication" and ""freshness/originality." [link]

So, it's due at the end of this month and I'm trying to get it ready. Here's what I have so far.

Give it a whirl! I'd love to hear what you think about it. I'm interested in any kind of feedback, but especially I want to know if anything is unclear or confusing.

Also, if you observe anything interesting or do any experiments ... I'd really love to hear about that!

You can play it here, but you can also play it full-browser-screen here: [link]

I hope you enjoy it!

btw, this is version 2.0. The old version is here:

If you want I can point you to some game developer friends of mine. They're all about stuff like this.

Glad to help. Another idea I had is making a comic strip as a teaser for the game, explaining the basics of mutations.

hmmmmm I see, like a more graphic introduction, to maybe get rid of some of the words ... That's a cool idea. Thanks!!

Hm, also, adding food areas seems to terminate the food production when you remove those areas, causing all of the critters to just headbutt the borders forever and eventually die from hunger.

Hm, it looks like the critters sometimes seem to pass the barrier and sometimes they are blocked by it... Especially confusing it becomes when the head of the critter passes the barrier but it backs off.

Passing partially or completely through the barriers ... yeah, that has been tricky. I will continue to work on that. Thanks for playing!

I've seen some of the critters kind of take advantage of that. Making their arms real long so they sort of glitch the walls in an effort to get food.
