... meet Sunthermo, the Phantom Blaze Pokemon, in its regular and shiny forms.

There are two commonalities between the three starter lines - it's them being based from (1) Philippine mythical creatures as well as from (2) a certain field Filipinos are very good at.

(1) The whole Sunthermo line is based on Aspins (Asong Pinoy) which can be found anywhere in the country and also based on the Philippine mythical creature known as Santelmo/Santilmo.

(2) This line is also based from Sports. The pose might point to it being soccer but Sunthermo uses every part of its body to attack using its ball. The first two stages of this line is known as the Fireball pokemon, fireball can also mean "achiever", "energetic person", "powerhouse", etc. This is also the reason why decided to just give them a ball than them becoming the Santelmo themselves.

Aspyres are very friendly towards other pokemon and trainers. It would happily do anything that its trainer tells it to do, even if they know that it would hurt them. It is also known as every trainer's bestfriend.

Asthermos are very exuberant and always tries its best to make its trainer proud. Wild Asthermos always tries to haunt travelers and trainers by trying to turn its body invisible but always fails to do so as it could not sustain it for a very long time.

Sunthermos can be very mischievous so as to not follow its trainers commands, but can also be very reliable if it wants to. Wild Sunthermos are experts in haunting travelers and trainers as it could sustain turning its body invisible while playing with its fireball.

The fireball that they are holding is their energy source, losing the ball means losing their life as well.
