Description Lightning flashes before me, just as my life flashes before my eyes. It had all gone so fast, yet so slow. I cry out in pain as lightning surrounds me, shooting down my spine and all throughout my body. As I begin to fall, the storm takes hold along with my memory of how this came to be.
-
The thundering of hooves echoed with the low sound waves resonating throughout the air. I pull my scarf up tighter against my face, charging towards town as the rain pelts down, soaking me and my trusty steed.
Thunder's solid black pelt blends perfectly into the stormy night. If it weren't for my eyes peeking out of my mask, along with a slight bit of skin surrounding them, we would be virtually invisible in the dark. As we near town, I hear doors begin to slam shut and people scatter. I pull out my sword, roaring loud enough to shake the ground around us.
I ride towards the Bordivar house, with rage in my heart and blood pumping through my veins. The rumor of child abuse made him a perfect target. I force myself back, Thunder sliding to a stop at my shift in weight.
I slip off, walking to the door as it slams in my face. It wasn't hard to smash out a window with the handle of the sword, and climb inside. Mr. Bordivar charges at me, knife in hand. There was no hesitation as I slash his throat open, watching him collapse. I walk past his wife and children, and quickly begin shoving valuables in my bag.
I search through their jewels, most of it gold with a few diamonds, when I spot a special necklace on the mother's throat. 'Ruby and gold, aye? You best be givin' that to me else you'll end up like your husband, love.'
I grin under my scarf as she struggles to take it off, tossing it to me. I put it in my bag before heading to their kitchen, taking as much food as the sack will hold. The sound of galloping horses catches my attention, and I hop out the window from wence I came.
I mount Thunder as they approach, and kick swiftly. He gallops off as fast as he can, and soon, it's a high speed pursuit into the rainy night. 'These fools 'll never learn.' I mutter to myself. The night masking my true face, I turn around, sitting backwards on Thunder.
Annoyed, I can already I feel electricity spark through my body. Starting at my heart, it jerks its way through my arms and out my fingertips, shooting black lightning towards my pursuers. The blast spooks them as well as their horses, and they either turn to run away, or the horses throw their riders. Swivelling back around once more, we head back to my home while the rain pours down, covering our tracks.
When we arrive, we're both soaked. I slip off of my horse, and am quick to strip down. I grab my clothes and my loot, walking into the cave.  Thunder follows loyally as I duck into handmade tunnels, weaving through them with ease. It didn't take long to get to the firepit, and I drop my cloths, grinning as I make my way to the pile of treasure I've collected. I dump my new findings on it, sighing happily.
I feel my body begin to shape itself without me putting any thought in. I change into my dragon form with ease, moving slowly as to not spook Thunder. My large burn pile lay in the middle of the cave, and with a simple poof, black lightning trickles from my lips, sparking and catching the wood. Unable to retain the pure heat of it, the flames explode into a vivid orange, and I lie down.
With Thunder lying by my side, I ease off to sleep watching my treasures glitter in the flames. It was, without a doubt, the best view.
I should've known better that those treasures didn't mean a thing.
I awake the next morning to a faint glimmer of embers within the fire pit. Thunder was nowhere in sight, but knowing him, he was out grazing. I let out a deep grumble as I push myself to my feet, taking human form once more. I grab my clothes, slipping on dusty brown pants, as well as fairly clean white shirt. I add a tan coat, before walking out of my precious cavern.
My eyes instantly fall upon two horses, one a beautiful black, while the other wore buckskin. I call for the buckskin reluctantly. 'Strider, come.'
He walks towards me, and I sigh softly. He was loyal, at least. Riding him however was a lot harder. I move, tugging at his mane as I pull myself onto his back. I hold on tight as he tries to shake me off for a moment, before taking off in a gallop. I lead him towards the town with a grin. He was feisty and wild, but he was worth it.
As I arrive, I listen to the crowd talk of the murder scene. Dismounting my horse, I approach the sheriff. ''S goin' on here?'
'There's been a murder.'
'Lemme see.' Without waiting for a response, I enter inside, feeling him follow close behind. I facade a grimace at the slit throat of the man.
'This' obviously a hatin' crime.'
'Do you think you can figure out who did it?' He asks me warily. Before I can respond, I hear my horse cry out in surprise. I dash out, watching a man pull the reigns of his own beast away as it tries to rear at Strider. I hop between them, letting out a quiet growl.
His paint finally stumbles away, and I turn my attention to him. I met his stormy blue eyes, and in them I could see the thunder roll. Electricity sparks at my heart, echoing through my fingertips, and I look down and away. Oh how I wish I knew then that the devil came to you as all you ever desired.
He smiles, and I bite my lip on returning it. 'Keep yer bitch in line. It touches mine again, and I'll kill it, aye?'
'Aye.' He says, giving me a wink. I study his slick black hair pulled back into a ponytail, which shows off his handsomely sculpted face. Thin lips trace into another smile, and I absentmindedly licked mine. His chuckle knocks me out of my trance, and I huff, walking back inside the house, feeling his warmth radiate behind me. I stare emotionlessly this time at the body.
'I'll find 'em. Watch the mother. It might be her.'
'She says it was the bandit. Plenty of people saw him.' He says warrily.
'Bandit's a myth. Always been another town member, aye?'
'You're right.' He says with a reluctant sigh.
'I can help.' The stranger says from behind me, and I face him anyways.
'Who're you, anyway?'
'My name's Gale. And you?' He asks curiously.
'Sinith.'
'Sounds sinister.' He says with a mock smile, but the sheriff doesn't see the facade. I however catch it immediately, and sinister ideas begin warping through my mind. He would look amazing lying in a pile of gold by the fireside.
'It is, if you' been breakin' the law 'round here sugar.'
'Then if you're so good, let's get this started.'
We spent the next two days working on finding a killer. It had all been so easy to lure him closer and plant evidence surrounding the wife of the dead man. Gale had been so good, not only in helping me "find" the killer, but in bed as well.
That changed in the dead of night, however. I awoke to an odd thunder, but my senses already told me the sky was clear in town. I slip out of the hotel bed swiftly, getting dressed and scrambling out. I listen intently, and it echoes out once again from the other side of town. Yet how peculiar it was that the nearest clouds were at the mountaintops.
I should have ran like the rest.
I mounted on top of Strider, galloping off. The sound rings out once more from the house of the murder scene. I leap off Strider who keeps running, and rush inside.
I freeze at the sight of Gale standing over the wife and both kids, as they bleed out, life fading from their eyes. I notice odd holes in all three, and look to the machine in his hand.
My attention snaps up when he turns to face me.
'Gale, how could you?'
'You were right to think a murderer's in town, Sin.' He says, using what was once a precious nickname to me. This time, however, it froze me like a winter rain.
'It's me.' He says, pointing toe contraption at me.
Pupils turn to slits as I move to charge him, before thunder cries out in my ears. Pain rips through my chest, and I gasp desperately, stumbling away. Hands fall over my heart as I feel blood begin to leak out.
'You look confused.' He says as he steps towards me, holding his machine with pride.
'This, my dear Sin, is what's called a gun. It sends out a little metal thing called a bullet. The bullet then tears through whatever it hits.' He strokes my cheek ever so gently, and I realize now I'm crying. True thunder rolls outside, and I hear the wind pick up.
'You do surprise me though, because my bullet went right through your little heart. How the hell are you still alive?'
I snarl, and watch him step back in surprise. Clawed hands grab his wrist, and his weapons drop. I pull him close, growling. 'I trusted you.'
He smiles once more. 'Never put your faith in a wayward Gale.'
I held no hesitation. I ripped out his throat, before rushing out. The storms always helped me feel better, they always helped me heal. Maybe they'd do the same for this new type of wound.
Not caring who sees at this point, I take to the sky as I transform. Lightning jerks past me, setting fire to the house and lighting up my bright blue stripes against my stark black scales. I fly into the clouds, bleeding heavily. My vision fades in and out, as the storm surrounds me.
I lose myself in the sky, fading in and out of consciousness. I can feel instinct take over several times, before I shake it away and attempt to focus on healing. However, I knew what was happening. I was going to die.
Lightning flashes before me, just as my life flashes before my eyes. It had all gone so fast, yet so slow. I cry out in pain as lightning surrounds me, shooting down my spine and all throughout my body. As I begin to fall, the storm takes hold, and I plummet towards the earth. The softest light echoes throughout me, and I give into it. I revert into a form unknown as unconsciousness wraps through my mind.

A soft grey stone with a lightning streak falls into the river as the town behind it is set ablaze. It follows the twists past a horse black as thunder, and through one of the many tunnels of a cave. It empties out into a large lake, settling at the bottom with several others. The storm calls out for it's lost companion, and it glows ever so slightly, but escaping the lake shall forever only be a dream.
