🔻Mahou
Wish:What happened to my sister?!
Eos saw various points of his sister's life from the point of making a contract up until her current state of becoming a witch
Soul Gem:A red triangle pointing down with an additional extension that encircles his natural gem, located just between his eyes.
Power:
[T1]Query
Eos can interact with an object in the form of asking "What happened to ___". If the item has been in sight of the target of his query, he will be able to see a glimpse of something from the object's point of view relating to the target. The clarity and duration of this vision depends on how familiar he is with the target- the more familiar, the clear and longer the vision. The vision will always have a short duration and a long cooldown, with Eos's vision becoming very blurry for a few minutes afterwards. Repeated use induces a headache.
Permission from any RP partners will be requested before use on any other magicals
[T2]Nostrum
Eos can take any one non-damaging effect from an individual he sees and transfer the effect to himself. If the effect empowers him, he can use it for a max of 1 minute. If the effect is detrimental to him, he suffers from it for 5 minutes or until it would have stopped affecting the original target. After either effect ends, he becomes too fatigued to walk. He must rest for a moderate amount of time before he is able to use it again.
Permission from any RP partners will be requested before use on any other magicals
Weapon:
[T1] Threads of Fate
Four abstract threads that can extend up to 6ft from his goggles, incredibly sharp and good for piercing.
Ability:Cognition
While any of his Threads of Fate have physical contact with an opponent, he is able to reasonably predict their moves to help him dodge. He is unable to predict moves or attacks that the opponent has not previously used, and his predictions are not infallible. As this ability requires great concentration, Eos speaks quietly and haltingly if at all when using it. He can maintain concentration for up to a minute before he will be unable to focus and need to disengage.
Permission from any RP partners will be requested before use on any other magicals
🔻Personality
+Courteous, +Trusting
Having grown up in a well to do family he has learned the social graces of high society. There's a certain game to it- being kind to someone and staying in their good graces could very well pay off down the line, in some way. The problem is never knowing when or where the payoff will be- so it's best to be polite to everyone. There's often little to gain from failing to follow the rules of courtesy. It's a code of conduct that even if he finds ways to logically justify it, there's no doubting that Eos is simply prone to being polite.
Eos intrinsically trusts people. Perhaphs because he's been relatively sheltered, he usually takes people's words and promises at face value. Why shouldn't he? Not everyone is out to get him, hopefully. He'll do his due diligence only with individuals who he was already pre-disposed to not trust, either from past experience, a warning from a trusted friend, or outlying circumstances.
±Competitive,± Calculating
Growing up with a sibling, a degree of competitiveness was an inevitable trait Eos was going to pick up. In some cases, it brings out his best- putting in the extra effort to finish a project, training to become the best in any given field. It brings out his best- makes him always strive for perfection, and it has helped to set him above the rest. Other times, it's a detriment to himself and those around him. Exhausting himself in the pursuit of perfection, or becoming so stubbornly attached to his own goal that he risks nothing for anything (or anyone) else. His time as an idol has only strengthen this- while his desires to further the image for the agency he worked at yielded great results, he put too much of himself into it and lost sight of his family. Of course, this may have fueled his inferiority complex.
Also stemming from his time as an idol, Eos is constantly thinking. Every little detail in life can, in some way, be used to his advantage- he just needs to formulate the right way to approach it. His father's influence as a businessman shows in this aspect of himself, willing to withhold information for a key moment if he suspects it will be of benefit to him. However, with this comes the paralysis of too many ideas. Too many possibilities that Eos has a tendency to waste time on, thoroughly trying to analysis the benefits of each one. This makes it hard to get a quick decision on big issues. He likes to think of himself as above sabotage, a line that even his calculating mind won't cross, but perhaphs if the right opportunity presented itself...
-Abrasive, -Insecure
Eos is honest to a fault- if he sees flaws in anything he's a little too willing to point them out. In his mind, it's only to help improve things, but needing things to be his version of correct can be grating. His background as an idol has pushed him to strive for perfect that he expects in others, wether warranted or not. Worst of all perhaphs is that he remains ignorant of how annoying his imposed ideals can be for others.
One of his more defining traits is his insecurity. Eos covers it up with statistics and smarts, but ever since the events of his contract his deep-rooted doubts and guilts have been eating at him. The need to cover for this only fuels his other flaws. He is very much aware that his condition puts him at a disadvantage, and struggling to live up to parental and personal expectations has taken its toll. Having his sister take over for him after his diagnosis was the final nail in the coffin, where he could see that despite everything he had done to prove himself and set himself apart, he was still replaceable. Hushed whispers from his parents, and their eventual 'gift' of a solitary apartment in Mitakihara have done nothing to help. Overly polite, overly nit-picky, needing to be right and if he isn't right he will collapse like a house of cards. Of course, having now to keep an eye on his soul gem can only cause further stress if he should start to spiral. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Likes

Dislikes

🔻History
Content Warning: Contains themes of Child Neglect, Death, and Decription of Chronic Illness (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
In the heart of the Chūō, a stern-faced Absol paces the halls of a hospital as he waits to hear the news. A frazzled nurse, not un-intimidated by his appearance, ushers him into the room where his wife- a lovely eevee- cuddles two swaddled babies. A boy and a girl. One would grow to be clever, the other cute.
But, from the very beginning, everyone's eyes would be drawn to one of them. Eos, the smart and shiny older sibling, with fur that would grow to be such a pretty green and Ekoto, his sister.
As toddlers, the two would be inseparable. If Ekoto had a new outfit, Eos would want a matching one. If Eos was given attention, Ekoto would insert herself into the same spotlight. Their mother Mineko had her hands full when the two insisted on playing dress-up. The former pageant idol had the most exquisit selection of clothing from the height of her fame. As two would watch her old idol performances, a dance for one would become an impromptu dance for two. They looked out for each other, always.
School started when they were both 6. It was an easy transition. Their mother was a distant individual. Nannies or hired help would often take care of the children while she enjoyed what luxuries the world still had to offer an aging woman of high status. Being an idol had not prepared her for motherhood. Their father spent more time overseas in China as a businessman than in their lives, and though their formal education was only just beginning he had already imparted on them the importance of business. The twins were tutored privately, eventually each getting their own individual tutor as they grew older and their individual skills began to show. Eos found the worlds of academics to be complex but comforting- able to find answers wherever he looked. It seemed whatever he put his mind to he could master, from maths to history there were books to find on everything. Ekoto excelled in the arts- something her mother was beginning to take notice of. Slowly, he began to see her showered in affection as dance practices turned to concept for full recitals. Eos quietly began to research the logic behind pageants. Perhaps he too could crack that code…
Their father, an imposing absol by the name of Hanyu Ma Kurokawa, was a high ranking businessman who often traveled for work. Eos was around 12 when his father had found him in the family's private library- pouring over books on fashion and the evolution of it. Figure, form, the standards of beauty throughout the world. He hadn't expected his father to take them so quickly. Eventually, he would find them relocated to his sister's room.
"Eos," He had said "one day you will be the man of the house. You cannot keep yourself tied to your sister." The muffled but audible laughter from the girls in the other room served as the background noise for the conversation. Joyful and flippant, without the stress of prospective burdens.
"I have connections- good connections. I love your mother but she doesn't know what hard work is. This is frivolous nothingness that is not fit for a Kurokawa." He was leaving for a meeting, and still he had to lecture him.
"Keep to your studies." And then he was gone. Left with just the excited chatter of two idols.
It was while watching an old performance of their mother's performance that he brought it up.
"...What if I competed with you?" he was met with shocked stares.
Not a day later the two would be at a tailors being outfitted for their first show.
Eos preened under the attention, mind carefully calculating adjustments to his every action and outfit. His mother was nothing short of ecstatic, certain that with his 'uniqueness' he would be catching the eyes of the judges. The twins would be separated even more here, male and female idols all competing to catch the eye of scouts. Time witnessing his sister helped him catch up to the competition quickly. Mimicking historic posture and poses for the modeling showed poise and elegance. The afternoons spent watching his mother's dance routines allowed for an extra flare. His wide array of knowledge impressed everything in personal interviews, and of course his natural shine drew eyes like magnets. But all his time studying had undoubtedly paid off- while it wasn't the 'authentic' him that he showed, the ideally crafted idol personality he had long since theorized about went a long way. Smarts, looks, grace, poise, highlighting small things that he had done for his community. Well...it was moreso things that had been done with his parents money. But knowing to mention such things, small details. Being able to present himself not only as an attractive model but a regular person, flaunting his natural looks with normal clothes as well as high-end fashion. He could sing and dance, yes, but he could do math, he could recite history, do science, all perfectly punctuated in the allotted time for showing their talents. It was this balance, this flexibleness, that Eos knew would keep the eyes from sliding off of him.
As luck would have it, they would both be scouted. A talent scout for a high profile group would personally confront Eos, begging him to join them as their last member.
"...Ah, I'm sorry sir- I'm only accepting offers from groups with two openings." An award winning smile would send the scout on their way as he went to join his sister.
Her offers weren't…impressive. Beauty, in all its subjectiveness, was an oversaturated market. Eos had realized this early as he researched styles and trends. While everyone tried to plaster themselves to the standards of beauty now, the public was always looking for something new. He had noticed Ekoto doing her own research, idolizing the latest and greatest…well, idols. But there was little new that she added. The studios that were interested in her were small, upcoming groups that (in Eos' eyes) were mostly looking for spare talent so as to not spend money on high-budget models and idols.
He could change that.
Business, fashion, everything was connected. There was an intangible thread that tied it all together, one he could follow and predict and ride as he pioneered a new route for the Kurokawas.
Ekoto's displeasure at the lackluster turnout was apparent to him, but she just didn't realize that they were going to take on the world together.
"Hey!" With a small, polite grin he would interrupt the small group of scouts as they quickly turned their attention. Ekoto turned her head, expression a tactful neutral that he knew was to hide the verge of tears. He slung an arm around her shoulder with a supportive grin.
"Are any of you willing to take on the both of us?"
The group that hired them would indeed everything Eos thought- cheap and searching for high talent at a low price.
But it didn't matter- through his mother he could suggest plans, and her own experience as an idol made her words hold great weight. Small suggestions turned to elaborate business plans, pageant schedules and modeling gigs. It was so…nice. The normally shy espeon was coming out of his shell, bit by bit as he led the group to higher heights. His mother coddled him constantly, the managers eventually recognizing his business prowess and listening to his ideas.
Even his father eventually saw his work and conceded.
"...I suppose you found your business."
He was on top of the world.
Maintaining his skill as an idol and a pseudo-manager was a feat. Trend searching by night, practicing choreography in the day, partaking in competitions in the evenings and repeat. And yet, he still managed. Excelled, even- as his talent as both marketing and the pageants themselves garnered attention. Their small studio was slowly gaining traction. Not enough to be 'well-known' but enough to gain attention. And soon enough, a relatively high-profile magazine reached out.
An interview and a spot on the cover.
Eos's shine was near blinding.
They wanted to run a duel interview- the twins taking on the idol industry. Of course, he allowed Ekoto to answer more of the questions. His father had imparted on him the importance of keeping business secrets. She could have her time in the spotlight- it was extra work, a burden, and she could really do this as a favor.
She was quick to disappear afterwards, most likely content with the photoshoot. Soon enough they'd be on to better things.
Or so he thought.
Small things started to pile up- flubbing up dance moves, oversleeping, dogged by exhaustion. It became harder to formulate plans, suggestions for business models were flippantly put together and slowly he started to fall apart. It was only a few months after the photoshoot, days after his 15th birthday when he got the diagnosis.
Chronic fatigue syndrome, the doctors had said, most likely from the over exertion that came with being an idol. Perhaps he just wasn't built for that sort of thing.
He tried to not let it get to him- but pushing himself only worsened the symptoms. Dance routines that he would be able to perform effortlessly left him out of breath, needing to sit and rest for far longer than what he saw as acceptable. Sleep came in fits, and in the day his concentration waned. It was like moving through water at times, everything requiring great effort and by the time the bare minimum was done he'd be ready to sleep.
It was hard. He only ever wanted to be able to present himself at his best- not half asleep in a wheelchair with the few personal nurses his parents had hired.
Well, after much urging from his sister he decided to take some time off. Stay at home, away from the spotlight to recuperate. She would take on the public for the both of them.
And she did fantastically- excelling as an idol and quickly gaining popularity enough to surpass her brother. He always tried to make it to her bigger shows, a custom glow stick to signify his spot in the audience if he couldn't sneak backstage to cheer her on in the wings. When he was forced to retire for the night he'd be surprised to find Ekoto neatly pouring over her notes in the morning. With all the idol business he'd missed her studying in the background.
Now he was a burden that his sister would have to take care of, not only juggling her life as an aspiring idol but learning business from her father. Because if Eos couldn't succeed in this, he was a burden. His father barely talked to him. His mother didn't seem too bothered- she was busy helping his sister on the way to success. Now she was the one being used as a vessel to live out her glory days again. And the media ate it up. Lone sibling taking care of her brother and furthering the brand. Almost single handedly! What a strong girl! What a beautiful girl! What a smart girl!
The bitterness came gradually. He had worked so, so hard. He had bent his father's expectations and succeeded. He had appeased his mother's love of the idol industry. He had improved it! He had made it so far, by his own strength, and Ekoto merely rode off of his efforts. All his hard work accredited to her. Between the nurses and sleeping and doctors there was hardly time to process it all, let alone notice any uninvited visitors.
It culminated one day when Ekoto was adorning one of his wheelchairs with stickers promoting the brand.
The words were…harsh. Not that he remembers the specifics. He had called her out for the praise she received for his work. She retaliated that she was just simply furthering his goal. But the rage didn't stop- the notion of her stealing his goal, him becoming so consumed by that goal and ignoring her, her being power hungry
She may have said that she was glad he got sick.
"GET OUT"
Looking out the window, surrounded by plants and medicine, regret began to set in. He had never doubted his sister, no. How could she say that? How could he have made her believe that? Guilt gnaws at him, knowing that he really should be proud of her. Obviously she had come a long way from their earlier days. When before she would struggle with more academic-based subjects now she excelled, even without the constant pressure from their father. How could he have gotten so upset at her achievements? Did she…hate him now?
He wheeled himself after her, ignoring the odd sylveon that attempts to keep pace with him. No time for that, not when there was bigger issues at hand. Where had she gone? This way and that, he took the route he thought she had gone.
Abandoning his wheelchair just before the trees he traces a path into the woods worn down by traffic. The sylveon follows, a constant shadow that grew closer the more that the regret and despair clawed at his throat and very being.
And that's where he saw it.
His sister, in the most beautiful dress, writhing on the ground in pain while she clutched…something. It happened too fast- a monster appeared right in front of his eyes as his sister went limp, as he rushed to her, as he was offered a contract, as the monster attacked- it was all too much.
"Please! Just tell me! What happened to my sister?!"
Eos learned a lot that day.
Too much.
He learned that magicals exist. He learned his sister was one. He learned what they become.
He learned her wish.
A dimly lit room of a photo studio, the magazine bearing his face laying crumpled on the table.
"I need to be better than him."
The threads, logic and reason and ideas all manifested as his wish took hold. There is so, so much happening but one thought screams loudest-
Get out of here.
He runs.
Not looking back- not looking at the fallen shell of his sister. Not looking at the world blooming into inconsistencies and beyond comprehension. Not looking at the thing.
The witch.
…
His sister's body is found later that day- a sudden heart attack. No foul play. His mother and father share the grief with each other. They all need some time to mourn. Alone. That's what they say as they put him in an apartment in Mitakihara, set up with a personal nurse of course. A private place to express himself, they say. To grieve.
He was not ignorant enough to notice the hushed whispers questioning why it was him who survived, and not her.
Death was not something he feared. Or at least, so he told himself. Ever since his diagnosis he knew it would come eventually. And yet, with the hollow eyes of the incubator still burned into his soul, to say he was anything more than complacent with his upcoming fate would be a lie.
Eos does not look at the small shrine bearing a face that mirrors his own. He needed to find answers before he met her again.
