Description
Twilight Sparkle thought she had seen everything — but she had no idea how wrong she was. Recently, she was struck with a strong feeling that two of the four creatures that have been recently discovered in Equestria will awaken. So, thinking logically, she decided to split up with her friends: Rarity, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie will go to Our Town to check on one of the creatures, while she, Fluttershy, Spike, and Rainbow Dash will go to the Crystal Empire and investigate the other mysterious creature.
But by the time they arrived in the Empire, the mysterious creature had already begun breaking free from its icy prison, and started to rise forth, declaring its presence in Equestria. Twilight, Spike, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash were totally unprepared for what they will encounter in the Crystal Empire. The first thing that emerged from the ice was a long serpentine tail, which ended in a spiked club, which began shaking and producing a rattling noise similar to that of a rattlesnake. After the tail finished its rattling, something else emerged from the ice — and that 'something' was the the head of a gigantic dragon with an absurdly long snake-like neck. This was followed by another dragon with the same size and neck-length that also emerged from the snow, before a third dragon also emerged, joining the other two. There were now three extremely large dragons with long snake-like necks that have just emerged from the snow and ice, and all three appeared to be confused about where they were and what they were doing here. But soon after the three 'dragons' emerged, the snow around them began breaking apart, followed by two enormous wings also emerging and spreading. At first, Twilight wondered to which dragon these wings belonged to... but the jaw-dropping truth was quickly revealed when the creature fully-emerged from the snow and ice. Much to everyone's increased shock and disbelief, it wasn't three separate dragons that were under the ice like they thought... It was actually a single dragon with three heads and two tails that now emerged from the snow!
If one took a dragon and a hydra, and mixed them together, this creature would be the result. It had three heads that sat atop three long snake-like necks, while only having two hind legs (like a hydra) and two gigantic wings, as well as twin tails which were tipped with feather-like spikes on each end. And if its physical appearance wasn't frightening enough, its size certainly was: Each head individually was larger than full grown dragon, and the creature's overall size would make an Ursa Major look like a harmless vole by comparison. Though unlike a hydra, the three heads each had some differences among themselves: The head on the left head four horns running down the sides of his head while the middle and right heads had five. The head on the right had a broken horn. And the middle head had two rows of spikes running down his long neck while the other heads had one row apiece.
Twilight, Spike, Fluttershy, and Rainbow were so entranced and frozen (no pun intended) by the presence of this monster that they didn't even notice the weather around them starting to become hostile the moment the three-headed dragon broke free from its icy prison. A powerful thunderstorm began forming over the Crystal Empire, despite the Crystal Heart currently being active (which should normally repel any hostile weather). Yellow-colored lightning bolts began raining down and striking in various directions, coupled with loud thunder and howling winds.
After fully emerging from the ice, each head began focusing on different things: The right head turned his attention to the Crystal Empire, which was not that far from them (given the monster's huge size). The middle was looking around the frozen wasteland in confusion and irritation, contemplating on what to do. And the left head immediately spotted the four friends nearby before leaning down to get a better look at them.
Note: I intentionally drew Kevin (the left head) with eight horns instead of ten to signify that he is the youngest and least mature of the three heads.
