Ampharos' japanese name is "denryuu", which normally would mean "electricity", but if you play with it, it can mean "electric dragon". It's been a pun for a long time, now it became reality

That's horrible. I mean the idea is cool and so is the mega evolutions, but i mean Why would they give it a typing that would make it have more weaknesses. Now it has ground, ice, fairy and dragon as its weaknesses.

All those types are common (Let's include Fairy as of now. MegaMawile looks ridiculously threatening), which. But resistances should be also taken into account: Water, Fire, Grass, double Electric (It resists the main Sun and Rain types), Steel and Flying (If Tornadus-T is brought down to OU in Gen VI MegaAmpharos can switch on it)
Electric/Dragon may not be the best ???/Dragon combination out there, but 4 weaknesses/6 resistances is a rather common tradeoff. Too few dual type combinations actually have less weaknesses than a single type (And most of them involve Steel)
