Description SIDE QUEST CHAPTER 1: A NEW THREAT__

I woke up in Ninetails’ communication technique. Next to me were Ken and Kinichi. This must be what the sentence the pokemon left me and Ken in Infinity Forest. Ken was already up and when he noticed I was up, he went over to wake Kinichi up. She was surprised at the change of scenery and we explained to her that this was Ninetails’ way of communicating. Ninetails appeared in front of us with a concerned look on her face.
“We…” she started “…that is, Dialga and I, have found out that something much more terrible than the stopping time incident a while ago.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“The very dimensions of this world are being messed with.” She said.
“How is that possible?” I asked. “I thought that it was farfetched that time was being stopped, now the dimensions are becoming screwed up?” I said. This was going to mean that we will have to save it.
“Along with Dialga, the controller of time, there is another mighty pokemon that can control the very dimensions of the world, Palkia.”
“Is it something similar to what happened with Dialga?” Ken asked. “Is Palkia being controlled?”
“We are not sure if Palkia is even the cause.” explained Ninetails. “There are special orbs that keep the dimensions in control. They reside in some parts of the area. If one orb is taken, then that whole area that the orb was controlling will disappear into another dimension.”
“When did this start?” Kinichi asked with a “ready to go” face.
“It happened just today.” Ninetails said matter-of-factly.
“Was it anywhere near town?” I asked concerned that we could be the next target.
“It was beyond where you would be able to see from where you are. The entire island on the ocean, the coldest place of where the orbs, called the dimension orbs, reside. If whomever is doing this wants to waste as less time as possible, then this town and the surrounding forests and caves will be next to be sent to another dimension. It will take more than a small group of pokemon. It very well may take every exploration team in town to save the day. I am starting to lose focus. The best thing to do is to spread the word and try to get everyone to investigate who exactly is doing this.”
“What will happen if pokemon get sent to another dimension?” asked Ken.
“I’m not sure, but…” Ninetails faded and the colors started to fade and crack. The fell in shards and we all woke up with a jolt, gasping. Our gasps were so loud that we ended up waking Chimchar.

“So we have to get everyone out of town and get all of the exploration teams to find who or what is causing this?” asked Chimchar.
“That’s the understanding.” I said.
“Looks like another dangerous adventure.” Ken said.
“I didn’t think humans being here would be that all important.” Said Kinichi with a tired-surprised expression. We were already starting to help everyone move out of town. Hopefully we would be able to stop whoever was doing this here, before they got to anywhere else. Wigglytuff and Chatot came up to us, wondering what all of the commotion was about.
“The continent is on the verge of disappearing into another dimension.” I said. Hopefully I wasn’t sounding too crazy. “Starting with this town, supposedly.”
“Well that sounds like a problem.” Wigglytuff asked. “Is there anything we could help you with?”
“We have a vast knowledge of the past and present of this continent.” Chatot said with pride. “Maybe there is something you need to know?”
“Actually, yes.” Ken said. “Do you know where the dimension orbs are?”
“Now where have I heard of those before?” Chatot said, lost in his thoughts.
“I think we have a book about them in our guild’s library.” Wigglytuff said. This may help us greatly. “Let us grab it for you. We will also mark the pages about each orb.”
“Thank you.” Kinichi said. “How long do you suppose this would take?”
“No more than an hour.” Chatot replied.
“We will hold a meeting with the other exploration teams in one hour, then.” said Chimchar. After everyone was safe, we headed toward the center of town, where we told the exploration teams the meeting would be held. Just as the meeting was about to start, Wigglytuff and Chatot appeared with a dusty, brown book, the title was “Mythology”, with three small pokemon on it. The book was so old and dusty that I couldn’t make out the pokemon on the cover, even when I had it in my hands. There were little colored tags sticking out of the pages here and there, where the chapters about the orbs would be, I guessed.
“Here you go.” Wigglytuff said with accomplishment. “I was surprised to find it in such good condition, considering how old it is.”
“It even said there was on in this town.” Chatot said with surprise. “Although, I have never heard of such a thing to exist here. No wonder it’s inside this mythology book.” The tag marked what Chatot had said, an orb here in this unnamed town. All of the exploration teams had gathered before we could get into it any deeper. Kinichi, being the one to jump at anything first, volunteered to be the spokesperson. She started out by introducing us and then went onto the matter at hand.
“How do you know this is happening?” asked a Torterra.
“We, as in me Saori and Ken here, have all seen it in a dream that was predicted while on a mission yesterday.”
“That sounds very bogus.” said a Gengar from the same team.
“Please believe us.” Kinichi restricted herself from actually begging. “The same told us time stopping and look at what happened.” The pokemon took this reminder in and quieted down a bit.
“We are lead to believe that this town is the next target and this book,” I gave the book to Kinichi, “says that there is something called a dimensional orb in this town and if that orb is destroyed then everything that the orb was keeping under control will be sent to another dimension, that’s why we had the town evacuate.”
“What is a dimensional orb?” asked Alakazam from AC Team.
“They are what keeps this continent from disappearing into another dimension.”
“How do we know if they even exist?” asked an Octillary. “That book is about mythology.”
“We know because the dimensional orb that kept the frosty island on the ocean was destroyed and now that island is in another dimension.”
“What does the book say about the dimensional orb here?” asked Tyranitar, also from AC team.
“We were just about to figure that out.” Kinichi opened the book where the first tag was and started reading from where we left off:
The first dimensional orb created was cleverly hidden so it would not get in the way of regular life and so that no one would know about these orbs. This orb is hidden somewhere where everyone is, but in a way so that no one can see it. Everyone passes through this spot everyday, whether it for shopping, for collecting missions, or for a regular stroll through town. In the very center of town, it’s the place where no one should look, unless they so wish to be blinded by the sun’s harmful, yet warm rays.
“So it’s right above our heads?” asked Alakazam.
“It would seem so.” The pokemon started to talk with doubt about this again.
“Impossible!” one said.
“How could no one see it, then?” said another.
“Calm down!” said Kinichi. “It said no one could see it because it’s where the sun is right now. We can’t look up because we would blind ourselves from the sun’s rays.” We heard someone walking toward us and to our surprise, it was none other than the pidgey we escorted yesterday.
“I volunteer to fly up and see what I can find.” He said.
“You’re just gonna let that kid hurt himself flying up like that?” said yet another doubtful pokemon.
“No one else seems to want to volunteer!” Kinichi said. I walked to Pidgey and told him to go ahead and fly straight up, high into the sky, and look for something that doesn’t seem right. He did just that. Flying higher and higher, he looked and searched all over the square. The exploration teams were making a huge commotion about this.
“He could hurt himself!”
“Get him to stop NOW!”
“This is madness! It’s crazy!”
After a little while, pidgey hit something and fell into my arms. We all looked up where he crashed and something seemed to be moving. It became more visible and easier to see as it started to gain physical form. It was invisible the whole time! The orb slowly lowered closer to earth. The whole square fell silent and looked at the orb. Kinichi grabbed it and raised it above her head. The crowed was still speechless. It was true. They did exist! “This is what we have to protect.” Kinichi said. “We must protect these from the attackers.” After setting the orb down on the floor, she continued and decided to bring up a strategy. “One person from each team raise their hand or wing.” A total of 19 hands came up. Kinichi looked at the tags and after subtracting one for the island, came up with 10 orbs. “We will separate into ten groups of two teams and each group will go to the locations of the orbs you are assigned. Find it there and protect it.” Everyone grouped together and got their locations. They set off for their positions. The only ones left were us and AC Team. The AC Team, consisting of Alakazam, Tyranitar, and Charizard, made big names of themselves as one of the top exploration teams. Hopefully the seven of us would be able to stop the terrorists, a temporary name, here before they could do any more damage to the continent.
