SIDE QUEST CH. 6: THE TESTS________

“Wow…” was all Ken could say when I told him about my last couple days.
“Yeah.” I was kind of embarrassed for some reason. Maybe it was being possessed and attacking my friends that got to me but I wasn’t sure.
“That must have been a horrible experience.” Chimchar said taking everything in with wonder. He became lost in thought as Kinichi looked at me with worry with just a hint of hidden jealousy. Her attitude was coming back now, the effect of betrayal on her part had finally begun to wear off. She was probably jealous of the fact that I so far had had the most fun since becoming a pokemon out off us three.
“You sure your O.K?” she asked. “How can you know that your seeing the real thing instead of another fake?”
I looked at Ken and even though the answer was clear in my head it was much more complicated than I could try to explain. “I just know that this can’t be an illusion. I guess you could call it an instinct.”
Something in Chimchar’s head clicked and his face became nothing but wonder as he asked his question.
“Why couldn’t you get to the pond in Infinity Forest? There had to have been a reason or you would have been able to get through.”
I didn’t really think about it until now but Chimchar was right. “Maybe if I had gone in then something there would have given me so much proof that it was an illusion that no matter what they did it would have been broken.”
“Couldn’t they have just copied the pond just like the town?” Kinichi asked.
I though about that for a while and then something that Celebi told me came into mind. “No. They can’t. Infinity Forest is controlled by Celebi.”
“The Time Traveler?” Chimchar said in shock.
“Yes. She is the protector of it and because of that no force can change it or do anything with it. That part of the forest was blocked from my mind because of Celebi’s power and so they made it impossible to get to the pond because if I were to make it then I would not find Celebi at all which would prove to me that everything was fake.”
“Makes sense, I guess.” Kinichi said with uncertainty.
“So I’ve shared my side what’s yours?” I asked them. Ken cleared his throat and began his story.

“We hadn’t fallen far from each other, fortunately, and were able to quickly regroup. The only thing from here on is walking for seemingly endless hours. We searched and called for you the entire time and when we came into town we had a feeling that we would find you here. When we did we couldn’t believe what we were seeing. It was you but discolored. Instead of different shades of blue you were purple and your eyes glowed red. We cautioned ourselves as you saw, mostly with fear. We couldn’t understand what was going on and when you attacked us not only did we become defenseless but dumbfounded at your strength. You blew all of us away with a single stroke and nearly nailed us down to the ground with your bubblebeam, but you already know all of that. What happened when I touched you before your rampage was the most confusing of all. You completely freaked out and went on your rampage. You kept saying ‘get away’ and ‘I must find my friends’.
When it seemed like we would all lose at the hands of our friend, you put your hands to your head and started fighting was apparently a mental war with yourself. We could only sit and watch as you squirmed from side to side on the ground. You started to slowly get up and right before you dealt the final blow something happened that flew you to the ground. With the last of my strength I went over to you and touched you thinking that maybe those cheesy love movies had something going when they say that love conquers all. It seemed I was right because a couple seconds after I held your fin in my paws you became your same blue colors and your eyes of evil became nothing but eyes of sorrow and hurt. Apparently hurt from the fact that you nearly killed me. You know the rest from there.

“I’m really sorry about that by the way.” I said blushing.
“It’s not your fault.” Chimchar said reassuringly. “And now we know that this new threat is much stronger and more cunning than we thought. Those two, Grovyle and Dusknoir, they were so strong. They beat us and AC Team. There’s no way we can beat tem now in our state. Then theirs Palkia we have to find and no trace or hint of his existence yet. On top of that, they can now control us so easy. Unless there is some way that we can get tons stronger in such a short time we will never accomplish what they want us to.”
I had an idea right then. “What if we all evolved?”
They looked at me with a bunch of expressions. Chimchar was curious and full of wonder, as usual. Kinichi was happy with the idea. Ken was happy with the idea, too but disappointed.
“But I can’t evolve.” He said.
“The bunch of extra training will do you good, too, Ken.” I told him enthusiastically. “Even if you can’t you are a tough fighter and with the training that will get us to evolve will only make you stronger. Your already familiar with your body size so the training could put that to your advantage. The downside to this plan is that the rest of us will change drastically, especially Kinichi if I remember charmander’s evolutionary stages right, but that will only give us the advantage of the sky if and when she evolves.”
“I like the idea.” Chimchar said.
“I’m ready for some action.” Kinichi said, looking pumped.
“I’ll do it too.” Ken said with devotion.
“Then it’s settled. We will all train hard to improve. Our goal is to evolve before facing the enemy and saving the dimensions.”
“Right!” was the response that put our plan to motion. A few discussions about our next move decided us that we should look for Dialga and Ninetails to see if they have any idea where Palkia is and maybe if they will help us fight the enemy.
“The tower where Dialga lives is across the ocean.” Chimchar recalled.
“But is it still there?” Ken asked.
“If Celebi is able to protect Infinity Forest from being torn apart then Dialga should be able to keep his tower safe, too, along with the floating island that it’s on.” I said.
“Will it still be over water or will it be over land?” Kinichi asked.
“I don’t know.” Chimchar said.
“And what about how we got there in the first place? We had to do something special with some rocks at the beach to get up there and now the beach and the rocks are all separated now.” I said matter-of-factly.
Just then something came sprinting at light speed at us. It looked like it was going to crash into us until it stopped abruptly in front of us and when the dust cleared I saw that it was Ninetails.
“I’ve finally found you” she thought to us.
“Do you know where Dialga is?” I asked.
“Yes I know where he is but first I’ve come to answer your cry for help.” She started. “We, Dialga and I, have decided to help you on your quest. We will start by helping you towards evolution. Dialga is creating portals for each of you. This will be a tough challenge for each of you but you have definatly been through worse. After that we will go with you to Palkia for the time that Dialga has spent searching atop his tower has paid off. We know where he is and it’s even bigger now than when he first found it. It’s a dark orb that is quickly spanning over the entire world. If it all gets sucked in then he will be the ruler of it.”
“Why is he doing this?” I asked in horror.
“Maybe it’s the same as it was with you.” Chimchar said. “Maybe Palkia is being controlled.”
“Possibly but one thing is for sure. We have to stop him.” Ninetails said with certainty. “Now are you all ready to go to Temporal Tower?”
We all nodded and Ninetails summoned an orb that was just enough to surround us and in the blink of an eye we were at the top of Temporal Tower standing right next to Dialga.
“HELLO AGAIN.” He said. “ARE YOU READY FOR THE TEST?”
“Yes.” I said speaking for all of us.
“THEN ENTER.” There was a huge portal in front of us. It was white with blue swirls going in a vortex formation. Without a moments hesitation we all stepped through the portal and into the moment that will change us all forever.
