CHAPTER 3: THE MEETING________Part 2
I woke up again inside a dimly lit cave. I sat up holding my hurting head as and looked around. I saw an opening that almost looked like I was inside some kind of mouth. Outside of that opening was an ocean, its waves crashing against the cliff I was inside of. On the other side, I saw a desk and some papers. It seemed like someone lived here. Across from me was a Chimchar, sleeping peacefully. I tried to remember what happened at the pond. I was knocked out by a vine. Although, from how the vine attacked me, it seemed more like a vine whip. Chimchar can’t use vine whip, so I wonder if this Chimchar is the savior, or the villain? It was still dark out outside the cave, so I decided to fall back asleep. My questions should be answered tomorrow.
I woke up again the next morning feeling a lot peppier than last night. I tooke a minute to stretch my new body and I noticed a ladder leading up to a hole that I didn’t notice last night. I decided that I may as well climb it to see where I’m at. Once I popped my head up, I saw the morning sun shining down on me. I had to put my fin in the way so as not to turn blind. When I turned my head, I saw the Chimchar that slept across from me last night. He looked at me and smiled a huge grin.
“Oh!” He said “I see that you’re finally awake. Here, breakfast is served.” I noticed that my crying stomach was hungry so I decided to join him. Chimchar had picked some berries from nearby bushes. He must have been taking care of them because they were really good. Berries like these had to be grown by someone. While we were eating, he asked me some questions that were fair enough.
“What was a Piplup doing in Infinity Forest?” he asked his first question.
“Is that where I was?” I asked myself.
“You mean you didn’t know where you were?” Chimchar said in surprise.
“No. I woke up and I was there.”
“That’s odd.”
“Not as odd as how I got there.”
“I though you didn’t know how you got there.”
“You have to promise not to think that I am crazy.” I said. “’Cause you won’t believe it.”
“Alright I promise.” He said in anticipation.
“I’m not really a Piplup. I’m a human.”
“WHAT?!” He grabbed my fins and pinched my cheeks to be sure I was real. “You seem like a normal piplup to me.”
“I’m a human, I swear. The problem is, I don’t remember anything about being a human, just my name.”
“Well what was it?”
“Saori.”
“Saori.” He repeated. Hmmmm. Do you mind if I call you that?”
“Not at all. Actually, I prefer it.”
“O.K. then Saori, how did you end up here?” I told him about the woods, my friends, Ken and Kinichi, and the starry abyss that I fell through before becoming a Piplup. Chimchar found every new detail fascinating. I could tell that he like my story. Whether he believed it or not, I could care less, as long as it doesn’t cause problems for me later. Chimchar told me his half of the story after I finished. He told me about the Umbreon, with a side note that we have to meet him again when we were done eating. He told me about seeing an Ivysaur pulling me out of the pond and about how he wanted to be an exploration team.
“I really enjoyed my first mission.” He said. “I’m not even official and I had my first mission.”
“What’s an exploration team?”
“It’s something you can create or join and you accept missions to help the pokemon here in need. Our job is to also explore any new places that are discovered or solve some new mysteries that dig itself up. Basically, we are both heroes and myth busters.”
“Wow.” I said with interest. It sounded fun to be in an exploration team. “Is it alright if I join you?”
“Why?” Chimchar asked with curiosity.
“I’ve no where else to go and since I’m here, I may as well make myself useful. Besides, we might be able to discover how I became human and find Ken and Kinichi.” Chimchar looked at me with approval.
“You put up a good argument.” He said sarcastically. “Alright, then, once we have met with Umbreon, we’ll drop the forms off at the post office.” We finished our breakfast and head off to what seemed like the center of town. I took in all of the huts and stores that looked like they came out of a history textbook. For some reason, it felt better than the usual city life. It’s more relaxing. The dirt roads scrunched beneath my feet. Pokemon carried on with their usual lives. No cars, no loud road construction. It was a lot quieter than I was used to. Chimchar looked at my amazement. He laughed at me.
“What?”
“What’s different between here and where your from?”
“Too much to list.” He laughed a little more as we met up with the Umbreon that Chimchar was talking about. Chimchar told Umbreon what happened in Infinity Forest and introduced us.
“Saori?” asked Umbreon, “That’s a funny name for a pokemon.” Then, Umbreon’s face looked at me as if he saw a ghost. Actually, I think he was. “I remember a Saori. I know that name.” He stared at me, more into my eyes than anything. I cocked my head in wonder. His face relaxed just a little bit, but he was still really tense. “Does the name Ken remind you of anything?” he asked with seriousness.
“Yes. Why?” I asked with worry. He was really starting to scare me. As I asked the question, I figured it out. “Ken?”
“Saori, it’s me! Ken.!”
“Ken!” I jumped and hugged his neck as tight as I possibly could. I didn’t want to end up losing him again somehow.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Hold on a second!” said Chimchar in confusion. “I’ve known for a few days now! Saori said she went through that light a couple seconds after you did.”
“Time must flow differently in this world than our world.” Umbreon theorized.
“Well this is great!” I said. “I can’t believe I actually found you!”
“I can’t believe it either!”
“Ok, ok.” Chimchar said, getting a little impatient. “I still need to drop off these forms.”
“oh yeah.” Ken said. “You wanted to start an exploration team, right? How about I join you?”
“Sure. The more the marrier!”
“I’m going to be in too!” I said with excitement.
“What shall our name be?” Chimchar asked.
“How about……………..Team Chikara?” Ken suggested.
“I like it.” I said in agreement.
“Me, too.” Agreed Chimchar. “From today on, we are now called Team Chikara!”
