CHAPTER 13: A DAY OFF_____________

Chimchar and Kinichi were outside of the cave while Ken and I were asleep.
“What do you say we let them go on a date so they can get together?” asked Chimchar.
“This can give us a chance to get to know each other better and we can handle a mission alone for one day.”
“I follow along.” Said Kinichi. “How should we go about it?”
“Let’s leave them a note and I’ll leave the name of a restaurant for them to visit. I think everything will just happen.”
“Alright I’ll meet you at the post office. Good luck and don’t wake them.”
“Got it.”

I woke up late in the morning to find a note next to me. It said: Saori and Ken, Kinichi and I have decided to give you two a day off. Well take care of today’s mission. You two have a nice day. Here’s a restaurant for you guys to try while we’re gone: Bulbasaur’s Berry Garden.

Ken woke up next to me and I gave him the note. “So……it seems like we have a day to ourselves.” Said Ken.
“Do you want to try the restaurant Chimchar suggested?”
“Sure.”
“Alright, then!” I said sounding really cheerfully.
When we arrived at the restaurant, the registration meowth asked us if we were Ken and Saori.
“Yes, that’s us.” I said.
“You two have a registration, compliments from a Chimchar and Kinichi.”
“Oh, alright.” I said, getting suspicious. After Meowth led us to our table, I looked out the window to see a beautiful flower garden.
“Wow.” Ken said after seeing the flowers. “This is a really good seat.”
“Yeah.”
“Kind of romantic, isn’t it.”
“Yeah…” I started to get lost in his eyes. A delibird waiter arrived at our table.
“It seems that a special one-of-a-kind meal has been prepared for you. It shall arrive for you within a few minutes.” He said.
“I wonder what that could be.” Ken asked. When Delibird returned, he had a plate of spaghetti with him.
“We’ve never prepared this kind of meal before. I hope you find it enjoyable.”
“Thank you.” I said. It was a big plate that we were supposed to share. We weren’t even paying attention to how much we were eating. Ken and I started to eat single strands at a time. We were paying so little attention, that we didn’t notice that we were eating the same strand. We kept getting closer and closer and before I knew it, we touched lips. We immediately pulled away in embarrassment. We looked at each other again.
“Saori, for a while know, I’ve been having feelings. Since even before we came here, I’ve had a crush on you.
“Since you made that promise to me, I’ve seen you in a whole knew light. I think I like you, too.”
“So do you want to get together? You know, as boyfriend and girlfriend?”
“O HAPPY DAY!” Delibird popped out of no where and danced a happy tune. “I knew from all of those requests from your friends that you two would get together. O HAPPY DAY! I’m so moved that you get special compliments from the chef. I shall return soon.” We giggled at each other for a while. This felt really good. Comfortable. When Delibird returned, he had a special fruits basket all rapped up in plastic and a bow. “Here you go. You are now free to leave! O HAPPY DAY!!!” Delibird left as if he was the one who fell in love. He was skipping and dancing away on his web feet. We laughed and left with the fruit basket.
“Where shall we go now?” I asked.
“How about down to the grass plains?” suggested Ken.
“I haven’t been there yet. Lead the way.”
“My pleasure. Here, get on my back with the basket.”
“Are you sure? It’s pretty heavy.”
“I’ll be fine.” I did as he asked and his knees almost dropped under the weight. He got up and he could barely walk. I giggled at how he was trying to act all big and tough. I got off and put the basket in his mouth. He was able to walk a lot better now. I stayed really close to his leg as we walked. It didn’t to take long to reach a huge grass plain that was so big I couldn’t even see the end of it. The grass was so lush and green that when I lay down in it I could fall asleep right there. We found a really good, soft place and sat down to look at the sky. It was a cloudless day, so we could see everything that was in the wonderful sky. After a while, our eyes found each other and we kept staring. I started to get a little fidgety. “What’s wrong?” Ken asked.
“It doesn’t feel right.” I said. “Since I’ve gotten here, it’s been exploration everyday. Now that I have a day off, I can’t get comfortable because I feel like I should be on a mission instead of sitting here.”
“I know what you mean.” Said Ken smiling. “I kind of want to go on some kind of adventure. Nothing big, just a hike through the woods or something.”
“Where shall we go?” As if on cue, we heard a commotion is the trees nearby. When we got over there, we found a pidgeot in a nest of baby pidgeys and a fearow that seemed to be attacking them. “Come on! We should try to help!” I shot a bubblebeam at the fearow to get it’s attention. When fearow went after me, Ken jumped in with a sucker punch and the fearow flew away defeated. The pidgeot flew down to us and thanked us for our help.
“It was no problem. We just happened to be in the area when we saw fearow attacking. We were only glad to help.” Ken said.
“We’re part of an exploration team called Team Chikara.” I said.
“That’s very kind of you. That fearow came out of no where and started attacking us. If I had know he was there I would have been able to defeat him. I’ll be sure to tell my nestlings about you guys. I’m sure that will give them someone to look up to.”
I looked at Ken and we both nodded our heads with the same idea. I brought over our fruits basket and placed it in front of Pidgeot.
“Here. You can have this. This should keep you fed for a while.” I said.
“Oh no. I couldn’t. It’s too much. You’ve done quite enough already.” Said Pidgeot.
“Go on. Take it.” Said Ken.
“Thank you! I’ll never forget what you two did for us today.”
“Don’t think about it too much.” I said modestly. Pidgeot nodded and took the basket up to the nest. Ken and I decided to head back to the cave-house since it was getting late and Chimchar and Kinichi were bound to be back soon. When we got back into town, we saw two very tired fire-types walking slowly in the direction of our cave. When we caught up with Chimchar an Kinichi, we told them about our day and that we were now together as boyfriend and girlfriend. They were really happy about the news and we helped them back home where we all fell asleep with me and Ken sleeping together closer than we could possibly be. With him, I had no fears, no bad dreams, no worries. As long as I have Ken, I can stand up against anything.
