CHAPTER 2: THE PARTNER_____________

“What’s all this?!” Chimchar almost fell over in shock at the sight of the stack of papers in front of him.
“These are the forms you need to fill out and the requirements to being an exploration team.” explained Pelipper, the receptionist at the post office.
“This is like 15 pages!” objected Chimchar.
“It’s necessary.” Chimchar gave up. He knew he couldn’t win this battle.
“Fine.” He lifted the stack of papers and headed out of the post office. The post office was where everything happens. It’s the most organized and important company in town. “Well,” said Chimchar, “let’s get home.” As Chimchar was walking home, there was a group of pokemon surrounding his friend Umbreon in town square. Umbreon looked a little panicked and seemed to be explaining something to the pokemon, but no one was listening. Chimchar came closer to get a better view.
“Please help!” said Umbreon “You have to help!”
“If there’s a pokemon in Infinity Forest, then why didn’t you save it?” one pokemon questioned.
“I tried, but before I could reach it a pokemon attacked me and I became to injured to be able to save it, so I used an escape sphere to get out and tell someone.”
“Why didn’t it send an SOS mail, then?” asked another pokemon.
“It was unconscious. Besides, it didn’t look like a pokemon you would see around here. I don’t think it would be able to send any SOS mail. Please, you have to help!” cried Umbreon. He seemed to be getting desperate.
“Let’s get out of here! He’s lying!” The group of pokemon dismissed themselves and Umbreon was left alone. Chimchar went up to Umbreon to comfort him. “I’ll help that pokemon for you.” He said promisingly.
“You really believe me?” asked Umbreon gratefully.
“You don’t have a reason to lie about something like this.” said Chimchar reassuringly.
“Thank you Chimchar!”
“I’ll drop off these forms at my house and I’ll be off.”
“Are you thinking about becoming an exploration team?”
“Uh-huh!” said Chimchar said with a huge grin on his face. “I really want to see what’s out there. I can’t stand to stay in this little town and if I join an exploration team then I have that chance.”
Umbreon starred at Chimchar’s determination to see the world. “Go for it” is all he said.
Chimchar left Umbreon with the same grin and set off for home. Once he arrived, he climbed down the ladder to his cave on a cliff overlooking the ocean. He packed a bag with some oran berries, a map, and a compass. “This should be enough.” He slung he bag over his shoulder to carry it like a purse and set off to Infinity Forest.
