It looked at us with happy eyes. “Well done.” It said. “I was a little worried when the piplup fainted, but when it came back with new knowledge, I was sure you were the ones that would save the world from the halting of time. Or, at least, most of them. There seems to be one missing.”
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“You do know of the halting of time, do you not? That was why you came to Echo Cave, correct? I was waiting for you for a while. I was afraid you had already given up.”
“Why were you waiting for us?” asked Chimchar.
“Actually, I wasn’t waiting for you, young Chimchar. I was waiting…” Ninetails shifted it’s head at me and Ken. “…for them. There is actually one more, but she doesn’t appear to be here. I’m sure they know who I’m talking about, though.” Ken was getting more confused now. I was thinking hard, trying to think about who could be the third person Ninetails was talking about. Whatever he was talking about, it has to be someone with a similar background as me and Ken. That’s when it clicked. It appeared Ken got it, too.
“Kinichi!” we said together. “But I haven’t seen her at all since I got here.”
“Actually Ken,” I began, “there’s something you should know. Back on our first mission, when we fought those pokemon, there was someone there we both knew. You know Charmeleon? Well…that was Kinichi.
“WHAT?!?” he exclaimed in shock. “How do you know? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“The night after the fight, she met with me and told me. I was so happy to see her. I tried to get her to join our team, but she said no. I asked why and she refused to tell me. She finally snapped in my face and ran off. I was so shocked by her act that just didn’t feel comfortable talking about it.” I felt really guilty. I should have told Ken at least.
“Wait.” said Chimchar. “So what you told me about being a human was all true? I only played along in case you were going crazy. And to think that Ken was also human. Boy, I sure got myself into something big.”
“You know Chimchar,” I said, “you don’t have to join us. I thank you for all you’ve done up ‘till now. This is our problem.”
“Hey!” said Chimchar. “When I asked you and Ken to join the rescue team, we became friends. I’m with you no matter what happens or what we have to face.”
“This is getting a little mushy for my taste.” said Ninetails. “I need to explain everything before I lose connection with all of you. I cannot say who is causing the time to stop or what, but I can tell you that you need the power of the three humans to stop it. That’s all I can say. Everything will be decided in the upcoming events. The next step in returning the order of time is to get Kinichi to join your rescue team.”
Ninetails started to get blurry. “Well, time to go.” Ninetails disappeared and the colors started to fade. Then, the colors broke as if they were glass and a rock was thrown at them. Everything went dark.
