Description Son of Gaia and Uranus.
He was born, like his brothers, from the blood that flowed from the wound that Kronos caused in Uranus. The Giants were huge beings, bearded and with the legs of serpents and Damysus was the fastest. Although of divine origin, they were mortal, but the union of a god and a mortal was necessary to kill a giant, and Damysus fell under the rays of Zeus and the arrows of Heracles. There was also a magical herb produced by the earth whose ingestion made them invulnerable to wounds inflicted by mortals.
To prevent the giants from having the necessary light to find it, Zeus forbade the dawn, the moon and the sun to shine and in the dark he collected the plant. The body of Damysus was buried in Palene, where Quiron, Zeus's brother and the most famous centaur, lived. The Nereid Thetis, mother of Achilles, burned in a secret place the children she had with Peleus, but when she had Achilles, Peleus noticed and plucked him from the flames with only one burned foot, then confided him to the centaur Quiron. Later, Quiron unearthed the body of Damosus which was buried in Pallene, removed the ankle and incorporated it into the burned foot of Achilles making the hero an extraordinary runner. The ankle fell off when Achilles was pursued by Apollo during the Trojan War and that is how Achilles was killed.
