Description
The Erymanthian boar was, in Greek mythology, a mythical creature that took the form of a "shaggy and wild" "indomitable boar" "of great weight" "and foaming jaws" that descended every day from Mount Erymanthus in Arcadia , to devastate the neighborhoods. In the fourth of his famous twelve labors, Heracles was tasked with capturing the boar alive and bringing it to King Eurystheus.Heracles, with the force of his screams, drove the beast from its mountaintop hiding place, chased it through the snow that covered the region and tired it until it could be captured. After that, Heracles put the boar on his shoulders and took him to the palace of Eurystheus in Mycenae. Upon seeing the monster, Eurystheus was seized with terror and hid himself in a large amphora that he kept in the palace to hide in case of danger.
