Daughter of Echidna and Typhon.AIX (Aex) was an ancient Gorgon killed by Zeus at the beginning of the Titanomachy. He crafted her famous aigis shield—a goatskin arm guard with serpents—from its skin and placed his fearsome face upon it. Like the aigis shield itself, it symbolized the storm cloud. Her name means "Fierce Storm".
Gorgo Aix has also been described as the monstrous counterpart of the nymph Amaltheia. Eldest daughter of Echidna and possibly it was from her that the curse that Athena cast on Medusa and her sisters came from, which made them gorgons.
