Nigel dropped a duck's carcass at his handler's feet, his big tail wagging his success as Pavlova trotted after him, hoping to suck up some of the glory despite the fact that he had reached the bird first. She beamed at the praise they were given, her pretty tail meandering back and forth like a flag as Nigel shook out the water that soaked him through. She shied away and gave him an annoyed huff as his tongue lolled out, and their handler added the carcass to two others in his satchel. They'd done well today, and she was as proud of them as she had even been of anything. She wrapped her arms around them and waved them back. "Well done, monsters," she told them. "Well done!"
