Description
So I wanted to do something simple and fast to add here. Yes to me this was easy and fast to do. Fun too. I think this only took me an hour or two. That's very fast for me. I needed a break from the Scary Fear comic I'm working on. Page one is in the works. So instead I decided to draw fear with his normal eyes. This is the first pic I've put up online where I have colored his eyes normally. Was fun and I love shading those so be sure to view them full sized. The idea was to draw him normal and clam but still have something to suggest what his powers are, that is to detect fear in others and use it against them to frighten them. So here he is with a memory showing his new found confidence. Note the galaxy. So I am pretty happy with this. I don't know why I keep associating him with galactic stuff and backgrounds. I just love showing his powers that way. It's both beautiful and frightening. It's also a lovely thing when someone finds their confidence. That is what this is. He's not afraid of what he sees. He's pleased.

Yes that's very true. I usually color the eyes last and add the white shine last as that really brings the drawing to life.
I had not heard of that creature.
Yes I have given it thought. Well we know Anger's afraid of water and that's coming. Disgust and Sadness are pretty easy. I think Joy doesn't fear physical things but being so extroverted I'm sure she fears being alone. I've never met an extrovert that didn't have that fear. One I think is silly and a very bad weakness. Disharmony is another thing she's fear. Well you saw the look of horror on her face when she walked in when Fear got punched.

Yeah, it's the lighting that really finishes the whole picture. I never go without it I also love giving different characters their own special dot of light
it's a nice touch that can bring some uniqueness.
Oh yeah, it's pretty interesting. Japanese lore and mythology.
Joy could also fear anger and hate, tho that could come for disharmony too. Sadness could fear pretty much anything I suppose.

Ooh this looks very nice! It's neat that you drew Fear calm and normal for once. He actually looks quite cute... albeit hard to trust based on that memory ball. Actually I really love how you drew the memory ball with the galaxy inside. It looks so pretty. And being a huge fan of space that appeals to me. Hmm, well my first thought about why you associate him with galaxies was because he's purple and an INTP... and us INTPs love space.
Though I'm sure many factors contribute to this, namely that space is vast and is full of the unknown... and we people tend to fear the unknown. Even stuff we do know about the universe is quite scary. Black holes can break apart your atoms until you're nothing. Stars will kill you in less than a millisecond; and it's hard to tell whether the heat, gravity, lack of air, or radiation was the cause of death. Well and you'll die in space too if unprotected. So... lots to fear. But of course it's beautiful so why not use it? I really like how you drew his eyes, they look very lovely and detailed. The strand of hair is so pretty too, very metallic.

Ah, I always look forward to your comments. Thank you. Yes first time showing him normal like he looks in the movie. With this original eyes, but yes calm and not having a panic attack. Yeah, I like how cute he can be at times but there is a hint even in his cute face that he's getting a mild power trip out of this. I so had to put a galaxy in there to make it look more than just a glowing ball. Like it contains a universe within it. That may be so. Yes INTP's definitely love space themes and I think Fear would be no exception. Funny enough you couldn't get me to go on a space shuttle or space station or anything like that. I'm afraid of the notion of space travel. At least in this time period it's way to primitive and dangerous. Thinking about it does scare me. If we get as advanced as the Star Trek age then that would be another story but well I'll be dead by then so it doesn't matter.
Stars will kill you in less than a millisecond; and it's hard to tell whether the heat, gravity, lack of air, or radiation was the cause of death.
Excellent statement. So very true. All those things could happen at once. I remember they used to tell us that if you walk out without a space suit you'll explode from lack of pressure. But would you or would you turn into a solid chunk of ice instantly first? Not to mention lack of air like you said and the full blast of the sun's radiation. Choose your death.
Oddly enough I have no qualms about going in a submersible to visit the deep sea vents. Just as dangerous. I can't explain why I am not afraid of that other than I haven't left my planet. It's fear so it's completely irrational. I had a conversation with Chris the other night about the giant water slides in parks. He's been on one I was too chicken to go on. I still can't. I'm to afraid of a that insane vertical drop. But jump off the high dive 2 stories? Yeah I can do that. WTF? What's the difference? Why is one scary and not the other for me? Logic fails here as fear is in control and I now wonder if not only does this Fear bring out what you're afraid of but perhaps he can suppress too. "Let's see, giant vertical waterslide vs jumping off a cliff. No slide but she can jump off a cliff. What's next?" Wow that's a lot of control.
I've actually been looking forward to coloring his eyes. I do think they are beautiful and it was fun to experiment with the different shades to make them look realistic and have depth to them.

What I liked about this drawing is that it just might set up the events of Deepest Fear, especially the look on Fear's face.

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. Yes this is kind of a teaser in a way. It will definitely lead up to the scene in Deepest Fear. That's definitely going to be a part of it. The name of the comic is different actually and I will reveal that once I have the first page up. Yes, he's got that frightening look that's very interesting.

I don't know. I've got the first two frames of 6 colored in. I'm working on it everyday. It's a lot of work but it is coming. You can see on my front page in my shout box I write my progress. I'm working by myself so it's a slow process.

I love how confident he looks here. He looks sweet but he's definitely got something up his sleeve just in case. That's awesome.
The way I see it, you associate him with the Galaxy because he must feel as though he's the most powerful being with his newfound abilities. It's hard to explain, but I hope you see the point I'm trying to convey, hehe.

Thanks. I love this unexplored side of him too. Ah yes, he's trying to be normal and non scary but now that is forever there for him.
Yes, that might be it. I associate him with power metal too and my favorite sub genre is galactic power metal. I should draw stuff like this for Thagirion since he is the god of that universe. Yes I do understand what you're saying. I think Fear is such a powerful emotion and to have the power of Fear is amazing. Your powers would change and be unique based on each victim.

Since my copy of the movie was a bit wonky, I didn't get to see the nice details of the characters. So brings my question, what is going on with that cute little hair of his? It's all electricy looking. Was it like that or is that just a reflection or something else? It's wicked cool to say the least. I really like how you draw the Inside Out characters. It's nice to see

Yeah I know what you mean as I'm putting up with that horrible quality too right now. I can't wait for Nov 3rd so I can get it in nice HD and see what all I'm missing. YES! Hee hee, he's got one hair unlike the others (Disgust and Sadness) that have lots of glitter hair. It looks like those wires you decorate Christmas trees with that has glitter on it. It's about that consistency as it changes shape on him with his mood and is springy like those decorative wires. I love showing expression with his one hair. Unfortunately I have not figured out a technique yet for coloring it to make it look the way it does in the movie. So for now I just alternate light and dark to give an effect of changing metallic light on it. I'm glad you like it and how I draw the characters. They are definitely a lot of fun. Thanks.

Watch how his hair goes down when he starts to get scared. Reminds me of a cockatiel like Randy that he uses his hair for expression. One of my nicknames for him is Cockatiel Boy.

Oh he's so fuzzy! That video was cute, I tried to pay special attention to his hair. Too cute. I have some ant characters I used to draw back in the day and their antennas worked like that too in how they showed emotion. Very nice. It's too bad so much detail was lost in the copy I watched. I don't understand how some movies are crystal clear, but this one was ugh. Ah well, free is fine and at least I did get to enjoy it and know that's something I'd like to add to my collection.

I love that look because they are so small you're supposed to see their molecules. That's really what their skin makes think of. It bubbles off them. I love that video. He tries to be so rational at the start but can't. I love the part where he stands confident the camera goes in from behind then you see his hair droop like a cockatile. Hee hee. Then he loses control. The ants from Antz? I LOVE that movie. Another very good psychology study with the lead character being INTP.

Not sure what you'll think of Monsters vs Aliens as you'd have to have seen a lot of classic sci fi to really appreciate all the jokes. But it's a fun movie nontheless. I've never seen Attack of the 50 foot Woman which I know they referenced in one scene and just by making Susan a giant. And refs to modern sci fi hits like Independence Day. I loved that.

Just threw it together, huh? It looks professional! You did turn this one out pretty fast and yet It looks amazing! I love his normal eyes and the radiance of the memory sphere. It's so galactic in that orb. He looks cool and collected in this piece. I like that. However, contained in that sphere is a record of his new found powers and confidence!
This is awesome and I wish Pixar would take note of you.

Yes. Had to make a "fast" drawing. The comic is driving me nuts how long it takes. Thanks. I do too. As much as I love his eyes glowing white in his "evil" mode, he has some beautiful eyes that are very fun to color. I went all out on that memory making it see through and stary. The metal's been very inspirational. GammaRay, Helloween and the other power metal bands have really been fueling my creativity lately. I definitely wanted him calm. No more going back to acting stupid and crashing into things. Now he will cause that reaction in others. Yes indeed. It shows what really likes within him and how powerful he's become.
I do too. Well if not I just need to create my own studio.
