The Kaiju fast is over for the moment! This is a Yuji Sakai Space Godzilla model kit built and painted by me. I made the base, and the crystals are real quartz. There is a fire inside the building the people are running out of. The crystals and the fire can be lit up with LEDs, but the batteries burn out quickly. This is a very colorful kaiju. I will post more pics of it through the next few days.Related content

The coloring on SG is great, very lean model of him too. I like the crystals and the layout but I think there should be more or something. IDK, maybe it is the giant amount of crystals that were in the film. Still a great model.

The crystals they had in the film really did not look like the quartz crystals I used, but I think they look more fitting and match the crystals on Space G better. The scenes I looked at were not a lot like this, but this landscape is a lot like the island where he met little Godzilla, except I put a building and some peoples...

Great work. The model's neck looks a bit thinner than the suit's, but your painting skills more than make up for any such minor details.

Yeah, I guess they didn't think it was painted as good as it could be, and there was a lot of competition. It got a red or white ribbon, I can't remember, but most of my other stuff got blues

There were lots of good dioramas there, they can't give me all the blue ribbons! I am happy to get any recognition from the judges, as well as what they did not think I did well, that is how I will continue to get better...

If you can get a hold of G-Fan 94, there is a great article with color pics about last years model contest. About 6 of the pics are my models. You can compare my stuff with the others and judge for yourself! I also have my library show article on pages 12 and 13, and the editor talks about that article on the letters page.

Yeah, it is an excellent magazine if you like Kaiju movies, toys, models,stories, etc. I even have had some of my art published there, Bad News for Baragon was on the back cover of one issue.

Well, it cost me $200 just for the kit, and it was broken so I had to sculpt some teeth and claws. I spent over $130 on the base..Plus it took me a long time! Plus shipping to Austrailia and having it arive in one piece? Not looking good for you, my sheila!
