Chapter 2: An escape from suspicion

Amka quickly rose from her seat. Quickly drawing her handgun, she points it at the man running the noodle stand. "What have you done with my friend?" she demands, keeping the gun pointed at the man's head. "Me? oh, I haven't done anything to your friend." The man responds with cold indifference. "But I'm sure corporate has had a nice little chat with her. I'm not one to gossip about interoffice politics, but let's just say she might miss her next birthday party."

While continuing to keep her gun draw on the man, Amka begins backing away from the noodle stand and towards her car. Although she remains focused on the man, she begins to scan the noodle stand with her eyes searching for any other dangers that may be lurking nearby. "You'll never escape us. We have eyes everywhere." The man states with a sneer, his face illuminated with a sickly neon glow from the light-tube above him. "But what good are eyes to the blind?" Amka responds while firing her gun at the light-tube. Her shot connects with the light, causing it to explode and shower the man below with a blinding deluge of sparks.

"MY EYES!" The man screams in pain as he attempts to shield his face from the sparks. "Where's my damn back up?" He howls while attempting to find his way out of the noodle stand blind. In his panic the man loses his footing, causing him to trip on his own feet and fall to the ground. Amka seizes on this opportunity to increase her pace and retreat to her car.

Still not willing to risk turning her back on the noodle stand, Amka continues walking backwards towards her car. She knows she's close as she hears the car's proximity sensors activate as she nears the car, causing the car's door to open itself. A feature that's saved her life before in tense situations.
