I know, but Anderson is a common name in Finland too and they are not members of a Scottish clan. I can always be sure that everyone who shares my last name is kin to me because you can get that name only from your parents or by getting married with a person who has it. (please don't type in a message)

It may be that the names came about for the same reason, As I understand it Anderson would have started out as Andrews son or something similar. Also historicly there are alot of conections between Scotland and the Scandinavian countries

Anders is a common first name everywhere in Scandinavia and "son" is son in Swedish and Danish too. I know the vikings left sons to Scotland during their European tours. Maybe they left their names to them too. Such a nice people they were.

It's very possible that's the case, the Vikings actually traded with the Scots, and settled in a few places too. Some years ago they discovered that there's a genetic marker that links alot of Scots to the Vikings. And remains of villages etc that were definately Viking in origin..

I would guess the Scots were fairly similar...The Romans had to build Hadrians Wall for protection! And those guys wear kilts, in that climate!
