Description
This is a seal I have been working on, it is based on the 9 schools of magic in the Dungeons and Dragons game universe. I was inspired by illumination manuscripts from the 800s like the Book of Kells, medieval grimoires , and the John Dee's Seal of God's Truth.
The nine schools of Magic start at the top right and move clockwise as follows Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy, Transmutation, and Oecumenical (renamed Universal). For each I have designed a unique symbol and placed the Theban rune for their fist letter below, circling the outside are nine alchemical symbols and their name in Theban runes from the top next to the symbol for Abjuration going clockwise are as follows Air, Water, Dark, Body, Mind, Soul, Light, Earth, Fire. My goal was to create something not only aesthetically pleasing but also conveyed useful information to those knowledgeable in the symbol's meaning. This is just the first step next into transcribe this onto some aged paper and then use paint and ink to reproduce the style of illuminated manuscripts.
